Number 18: Heraldic Progenitor Plain-Coat

2 Level 4 monsters

During either player's turn, if there are 2 or more monsters on the field with the same name: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; choose 1 of those monsters that have the same name and destroy all other monsters on the field with the same name. While this card is face-up on the field, your opponent cannot Summon another monster with the same name as that target. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can send 2 "Heraldic Beast" monsters from your Deck to the Graveyard.

Its BFF is Dark Hole.

You'll almost always break even with Dark Hole if you use it on it alone, assuming you have remote amounts of setup (so, pmuch always). You have Leo, Abercon, and Unicorn to augment it. Make 18 (-1), Dark Hole this (-2, -3 total), search off of dumped Leo (+1, -2 total), add Leo in Grave back with an Aberconway (+1, -1 total), revive this with Unicorn (+1, +0 total).

Granted, that's niche and I've used it like that all of one time, but that's besides the point. I just love using Dark Hole while this is out, and will actually make it before I use dark hole because it allows me to gain +s freely. It's even better when my opp is stupid enough to Dark Hole it.

Damn it! I hoped this topic meant it was confirmed for TCG LVAL...sigh...

It and Amphisbaena are exactly what Heraldics want. (Augment is overkill)

However, it has all the problems that Leo has, being it is absurdly easy to trigger and unlike Leo, isn't restricted to once a turn. Oh, and I guess being able to SEND Leo and get the search to hand might be an issue too.

I love it, but the first effect is so easy to overlook.

I was hoping the same thing. *sad sigh*

evilfusion pretty much summed it up.

I just really want this and Amphisbaena for my RL Heraldics. Is that so wrong?! Plus it's a Number...

Unicorn being able to revive it makes it beyond hilarious, since its mill effect becomes super spammable, which also made Aberconway really good.

The fact that it's a Number means it'll appear in the TCG eventually, but how far into the future that will be is uncertain.

Of course, but it's that uncertainty in time that bugs me. I was already eager for a bunch of the LVAL cards, but if they're not going to be available for months or even a year...ugh.

That said, I wouldn't be shocked at all if they do make another Numbers Hunter pack (which IS where we got Number 15) and give us a bunch of the unreleased Numbers, such as Number 42.

Or they'll gradually give it to us as OCG imports, like how I predicted we'd get Coat of Arms in LTGY because the dub had reached the episode where Coat of Arms was showcased at that time. But with this being an OCG premiere...no such luck.

Speaking of Coat of Arms, how is Progenitor related to him?  Is he his father/ancestor?  His younger version?

Works pretty nicely against Draggosack as well, since it can pop one of the tokens. Altogether an extremely good card. The fact that you can Numeron Force this into C69 is also cool, and Limited Barian's Forcing this into C101 is extremely lucrative as well.

This into any C number's good because it adds a layer of threat to it.

Issue is space and the inconsistency it can cause with Heraldry Augmentation.

I like this very much. once this card is summoned, you'll never out of monsters unless your opponent has Macro

Well...not really true. You could run out of Heraldic Beasts in your Deck if you mill Leo and something else, and Leo searches. Sure, you got a Heraldic in your hand, but your Deck now has 3 fewer monsters in it, for better or worse.

If the game lasts too long, you might run out of monsters if you overuse the effect with Unicorn.

I'm not really knowledgeable with Heraldics, so do Dichotomy works there?

Technically.

I don't like it there because of the fact you don't really stop once you start, so giving up that BP hurts.

>Overusing 18

Seriously, how do you EVER over use him.

I despise this card with a passion. Cuz I sed so

What are you on about? Overusing it happens a good amount of the time because you only run so many targets to double foolish. About 10 cards you wanna dump, 3 of which you only wanna dump once per turn.

#18, #36, and Nebra are pretty much all I want from LVAL (excluding Cruiser 9), so them being ocg exclusives really busted my balls and killed pretty much any incentive to buy the pack.

Anyways. #18 is pretty hilarious. lulzy counter to Rescue Rabbit imo.

#42, #18, #36, #73, #94, #58, #72, #13, #31, #82... I think thats all of them that have actually been released into the ocg that we don't have.
