I need to know, is there any deck that is fairly simple but strong enough to survive? Because right now my friend's current deck couldn't survive at all, not even against a starter deck. A good cheap deck to start with would be Dino Rabbit to be honest. Every card you need is in a Tin and is worth about £2 at most (bar Jurrac Guaiba, but you can replace it with Hydrogeddon for the purposes of learning). It may not be competitive right now since Rabbit is limited, but it is great for learning how to play the game. Blackwings would be another good cheap option. Why else would every freaking scrub on the planet play them? =D That long text helps the user understand a wide variety of effects. xD Blackwings are cheap enough but IMO take some thinking that might be hard for a newcomer to decide what to search. If you want to play a busted game, sure, go with that. Let's not compare card games, though. I don't think any of the decks so far are very good for a beginner. The easiest would probably be Dino Rabbit, since it has an extremely central goal and besides that just sits on backrow. Blackwings also aren't too difficult, either, if you're playing a simple variant. Most people can guess if they want to search for Kalut or Gale or what. They won't gain as much advantage not knowing exactly what to pick at any given moment, but they will still be okay. Dragon Rulers is a horrible idea because of the long text. Sure, you can play them without knowing what you're doing, but you will probably forget a lot of things along the way, and end up without any advantage after turn 1 or 2. CFV is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, because the power level works on a completely different level from other card games due to the high reliance upon luck and such as well as how powerful the topping decks are (Reference: Revenger gauntlets JESUS CHRIST RAGING FORM), and people will more than often just get mad because luck isn't on their side in a few games. That and the official tournaments are worse than ygos by a long, long way.If I was to allow them to play something, I'd probably let them play something like 4-Axis Fists. Very easy to understand and powerful decks that introduces your friend to one of the most important aspects of Yugioh: Gaining and upholding card advantage. It also has the tools required to allow your friend to appreciate what sets a good card aside from a bad card and introduces them to some long term game staples that a lot of other decks are missing. OP, if he has some spare cash have him make Constellars. They're extremely linear and not too expensive except for M7, Pleiades and Sombre. If he doesn't have the cash, Gadgets work, so do Frogs. A deck that forces you to think about phases and when to activate effects and how to use recurring effects to gain advantage provides a sufficiently steep learning curve. Whenever we get a new player at most of the stores I frequent, we start them off with Frognarchs and progress to Lancer Frogs once they're comfortable with how an advantage engine works. And hell people are still clinging to it now like morons I mainly posted it as a joke. Constellars are quite fair and easy to play, you're right. Dino Rabbit? Yeah that's been dead for the most part.
