have I made a good trade?

Hey fellow yugiohers (I guess that's the right term) I'm fairly new to trading cards with others (I've been playing yugioh for years though) and am starting to wonder whether I've made a mistake or not, I'm not sure if a friend I've traded with has ripped me off, I'm sure one of you will be able to tell me if the trade was unfair...

I gave him 'photon papilloperative' which is a level 4 xyz warrior it has 2100 ATK and 1800 DEF, you need to tribute 2 level 4 monsters to summon it. I don't recall how rare it is (secret rare I think).

So that's what we traded, photon papilloperative for regenerating mummy, pot of avarice, giant soldier of stone and ancient rules. Personally I'm happy with what I got, but should I be? Thank you, peace out B-)

Papil was pretty good a few formats ago. Anyways, out of the four cards you got, only Avarice is good, and that card is banned. Regenerating Mummy flat-out doesn't work reliably enough to make it marginally useful and isn't even searchable by GobZom. Giant Soldier was pretty neat. Ten years ago, that is. Now it's reeeeally outclassed by like a ton of things. Most notably Snowman Eater.

 

Ancient Rules only functions in a high-Level vanilla beatdown Deck, which tend to suck really badly. First, the vanillas are all beaters with nothing special going on for them. Then you need to actually Tribute monsters for them while that card is in your hand which means it's been wasting your card space for at least a while. Finally, the best monster to Summon with it is Blue-Eyes, who has his own support and doesn't need Ancient Rules at all. The ONLY place I've personally used Ancient Rules is in a Level 5 beatdown ALO Deck that lets me Normal Summon Giga Gagagigo and Terrorking Salmon as huge-ATK no-Tribute monsters, then I teched a copy of Gogiga mostly for the lolz and to make sure Ancient Rules isn't dead when ALO is out.

 

If anything, you might be able to scam some poor scrub with Giant Soldier (for being a card Yugi used way back then IIRC) and Ancient Rules because scrubs will think it's bonkers. Aside from that, probably should've kept Papil.
