Zauls
For some reason this card has been falling slightly out of favour recently, I notice. However, I think its time to shine has come again. The fact that it is a Monster as well as a Trap is more important now than it ever has been. Its a Level 1 Tuner to bring back with Soul Charge and it can also be used as an extra Type to fuel Pot of Dichotomy (which is an amazing and underrated card). Sure, its not great in some matchups but every deck makes Rank 4s or 5s, most of which do not appreciate being Veiler'd.
Wildflame
Breakthrough Skill is prefered over this or Fiendish because Artifacts. That's pretty much it.
Goose
Has anyone else ever wished that they could drop this on their own turn just to go into BLS/CS?
arkaeldarknnes
Has anyone else ever wished that they could drop this on their own turn just to go into BLS/CS? Like Wildflame said, that's pretty much the reason why Breakthrough Skill is preferred over veiler.
TheTurtleOnceCalledGod
I've seen it getting more play thanks to Shadolls, being a tuner and being fusion material.
The Warden
I saw this played in Derp Worlds. I had absolutely no idea why he was playing it, since it seemed like such a horrible tech choice. Turns out, it was Derp World Shadolls; and he was running Veiler just to make Nephilim. I beat the snot out of it regardless, but point is is that, yeah, this might see extra play since Nephilim is pretty good. Not as good as Midrash mind, but still pretty strong. Maeriberii Haan
Mediocre against the best decks, good against most everything else.
Blake
I've seen it getting more play thanks to Shadolls, being a tuner and being fusion material. But that's terrible. The only reason to run Veiler post-PRIO is to hit, like, Madols or Scraps (post-SD2014) T1. The rest of the relevant cards dictate running BTS or Fiendish is superior. Come DUEA, ESPECIALLY BTS. The rest of the relevant cards dictate running BTS or Fiendish is superior. Come DUEA, ESPECIALLY BTS. Did you not read the reasons I put for using Veiler? Clearly not if you are saying these are the "only" reasons to run it. I'm not trying to say its better than BTS because most of the time I would play BTS over Veiler, but Veiler has gained a niche in that it is a monster and, more importantly, a splashable Level 1 LIGHT Tuner that can make plays with Soul Charge or fuel cards like Pot of Dichotomy. There's always the old stuff as well like being a LIGHT for Shadolls/Chaos and Call of the Haunted and things, but there are now even more cards that take advantage of it being a monster and one of them is an @2/3 staple in every deck. Ultravires
Maxx > Veiler post-PRIO because of Artifacts, Soul Charge and the general fact that Veiler does not punish pushes the way Maxx does. Breakthrough >>> Veiler/Fiendish as effect negation post-PRIO and post-DUEA for very obvious reasons. Veiler is only useful against one-trick combo decks like Madolche that are linear and cannot continue playing after the first effect goes off; it's exceedingly useless against things like Geargia, Chronomaly, Artifacts and the like. I did, but that doesn't make you correct. Veiler has no niche. Not even Shadolls should be playing it because there are many better cards to be running in the format post-PRIO/DUEA. Just because it has a few cute things going on doesn't mean you should run a card that's not even good right now. It's bad now. Masao covered everything else. newhat
Veiler will always be as good as what it can negate. It doesn't do much to Midrash or Artifacts.
Jord200
Veiler doesn't get stopped by Royal Decree, Wiretap, MST, Trap Stun, Forbidden Lance, Forbidden Dress, Book of Moon, and or Seven Tools. Just saying.

Just saying. And your post doesn't tell us anything about why we should run Veiler over other stuff when Midrash and Artifacts are things. And psure veiler DOES get stopped by BoM. Just saying. But the opponent's main phase is too tight to do anything good or something. Doesn't everyone run 2 Fiendish and 2 Veiler for that reason? Doesn't everyone run 2 Fiendish and 2 Veiler for that reason? Both Fiendish and Veiler have fallen out of favour and Breakthrough Skill is the preferred option now because it hits Artifacts and Shadolls and a lot of other stuff that Veiler doesn't hit. Fiendish has lost out because Artifacts play a lot of s/t hate and Moralltach pops it. Veiler does have niches that have all been stated, I am just trying to make the point that it is still a considerable option sometimes, but overall I do agree that BTS is still better. Everyone's 9 Breakthrough Skills are in their binder because we don't have artifacts yet, but I do agree that when it matters it'll be better than fiendish, especially the 2 uses out of it. Not-so-Radiant Arin
Anyone semi-intelligent doesn't run this anymore. Breakthrough is far superior in terms of accessibility and general usefulness.
