J-Max
Activate only if your opponent's Life Points are at least 1000 higher than yours. Pay 1000 Life Points. Draw 1 card for every 2000 points difference between your Life Points and your opponent's. Noticed this Gem while playing Duel Arena. Managed to get a +4 off of it. Is it only really good as a last resort or a Counter to Life Gain Decks? Trying to think what else it could be used for.
Not-so-Radiant Arin
Degenerate, and is only used for insta-kill Decks like Exodia. Hence the term "Hope for Exodia". It's also degenerate because it rewards you for losing, purposely or otherwise.
JustAnotherDuelist
There's also Dark World Turbo if you run it in that.
Trebuchet MS
Yes, this card is a good counter to Life Gain Decks. The problem is that Life Gain Decks tend to be bad because there aren't any good strategies that greatly benefit off having a large amount of life. Which then results in this card being used in alt-wincon Decks, where the wins are instant and the opponent's life doesn't matter. It's especially potent in Countdown Decks where, if used in conjunction with a bunch of Upstart Goblins and perhaps Wall of Revealing Light, you get to draw a buttload of cards and, by extension, more Battle Phase-ending hand traps. And as usual, apply the "this card is degenerate because the only Deck that uses it effectively is degenerate" argument.
The Amazing Avian
> Playing Exodistall.dek vs Six Sams > Opponent's lp at 11000 mine at 4000 > 3 of these in hand but can't play them because both Shiens are out > Draw into Lava Golem, set these and +15 for win next turn I have to admit, it felt disgusting, but I didn't like him very much so it's k. Greiga
Does this card not see attention simply because it's a trap that needs significant life loss to do anything? Or because it's decks don't matter? Do people use this in 50k LP duels?
Zauls
This card becoming worse is the only good thing about Soul Charge existing.
Blake
There's also Dark World Turbo if you run it in that. No, because this card is and always has been shit in DW. People trying to use it does not change it's terribleness. Also lol "life gain decks"

J-Max
I am not that clued up but I take it that "Degenerate" means a Deck that is cheap to use such as Exodia? The hilarious thing was that it was near impossible to get Exodia in the past. Yeah Black I know I know lol Life Gain Decks.... I admit I have never seen any myself but it was just a thought. Degenerate is a term that gets thrown about a bit. But it tends to not mean "cheap" Decks, but Decks that are inherently bad for the game because they more or less play Solitaire with a player watching from the other side of the table. Decks that don't really require skill to pilot. Examples include: Final Countdown (stall. Stall some more. Win). Exodia (draw. Draw some more. Stall a bit. Win). Burn (stall. Play cards that inflict lots of damage. Win as a result). So yeah, "cheap" Decks often fall into that category. They don't rely on outplaying an opponent as much as getting a card as fast as possible and then just preventing yourself from losing.
werewolfjedi
honestly, hope for escape, is something I side for decks that play soul charge, if I find myself with very little life, and I could use it to draw 3+ cards, all that advantage gain in one trn could certainly turn the tide if I"m desperate enough to dump it all
Mugendramon
If your deck is really that desperate for extra draw power, this thing can be cute when paired with Upstart.
