Black Luster Soldier- Envoy of the Evening Twilight

Recommended Posts

So I went to viz.com until I see this card. My god another Black Luster card and for those Black Luster users get this card because I believe it has a crazy effect.

BlackLusterSoldierEnvoyoftheEveningTwili

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned(from your hand) by banishing all LIGHT monsters or all DARK monsters from your Graveyard, while you have an equal number of each in your Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. While face-up on the field, this card is also LIGHT-Attribute. When this card is Special Summoned: You can activate the appropriate effect, based on the Attribute of the monsters banished for the Special Summon. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this effect.
● LIGHT: Target 1 monster on the field; banish it.
● DARK: Banish 1 random card from your opponent's hand face-down, until your opponent's End Phase.

for those Black Luster users-

You mean those scrubs who use another scrubby card?

Thing is, this card is only really overshadowed/never used/etc/etc, BECAUSE Envoy of the Beginning still exists.
So it's not like them making a balanced version of it would ever be that spectacular, when the original is still a thing.
Though, it is nice that they made it + the other cards relevant to it's existence, so there is at least that.

Designed to be super searchable and playable on the second turn with the LIGHT effect, and take out a piece of the opponent's engine--Ice Hand, Geargiarmor, Pleiades, a Shadoll--even if it dies in the process. That's fine.

The DARK effect is a mystery. It is damn hard to set up late-game, on par with RUM Argent Chaos, and the reward is to banish a single card and not attack. Banishing 1 card from their Graveyard would have been better.

Should have made it with the exact first effect of EotB for the Light effect and something that permanently banished the card facedown for the second effect.  Then it could be limited to 1 like it should be and we could move on.

..How is Argent hard to set up? It just needs to be in your grave :/

It's not hard at all to summon, at least early game. If you're running some chaos-type deck (which is outdated nowadays), you can easily have 1 or 2 of each type in grave. Level 8 is good, 3000 ATK is good, and assuming you banish lights, it's a +1 on summon. But in general if you're running this you need good grave control... and odds are you can find more consistent monsters for whatever strategy you're going for.
