Cannot be Special Summoned. Monster effects cannot be activated.

This card cannot be Special Summoned. Your opponent cannot Special Summon monsters.

Negate all other Trap Card effects on the field.
I got my ass handed to me by these. Opponent doing a turn 1 Decree + Fiend + Ruler is pureeee bullshit.

So yeah, super salt.

Discuss these highly degenerate cards?

but yeah what's the point in this thread? it's not stupid or degenerate at all.

To bitch about getting your ass torn by sub-optimalness, duh!

@OP: The fact that you actually think that this is degenerate, when in order to do it you need to open a specific 5 card opening (Double Summon, Mausoleum, Decree, Vanity's Ruler and Majesty's Fiend) for it to even be considerable is ridiculous. All of these cards are honestly fine.

When did "degenerate" become part of the Yu-Gi-Oh! lexicon? It reminds me of Tumblr, only instead of making up words to define your sexuality, you're looking for a more SRS BSNS word than "broken", in order to look clever. "Degenerate" sounds like a moral declaration, or that a degenerate card is one that will End Yu-Gi-Oh! As We Know It.

Imagine if you tried to say "Vanity's Ruler is OP". You'd get fucking crucified. But "Vanity's Ruler is degenerate", well, that's something else entirely. Indeed my good man, this degeneracy threatens the very fabric of society, perhaps all of civilization!

*raises paw* uhhhh.... pls dont use that offensive "man" word. i consider myself to be an androgynous quasi-female pansexual wolfsoul. your concept of throwing around the word "man" willy-nilly is greatly offensive to my personal conceptualizations of my unique self image, and addressing others by using a certain generic label such as "man" is traumatic to me on a deep personal level, i was shaken to the core by your judgemental words. please be a little more considerate next time. thanks!

It means cards that degrade the game state. This is usually done by either slowing the game down too much or speeding it up too much. Or sometimes just DOING too much.

Madolche, for example, have about. 6 degenerate cards.

Shaddolls have Fusion and Facing the Shadows and El-Shaddoll Fusion

Yang Zing have Incarnation (would be fine if it was a flat OPT instead of stacking copies), Baxia, and Jiaotu.

Satellas are just a mess of degenerate design.

Shock Master totally ruins game states and makes the game completely one sided.

BLS is too much reward for too little payout, but it's an example of degeneracy that flies under the radar most times.

And so on.

The fact that stupid shit like macro is degenerate and idiots use degenerate too loosely doesn't mean it's "hurrr stops my deck" overall.

And Chaos Knux, go post on DNF. You're shit posting is honestly intolerable and you've shown 0 desire to get your head out of your ass or improve.

Speaking from MTG terminology, "degenerate" is used when a card is either massively overpowered or warps the entire game/format around it, often both. This means cards like DMoC, Overload Fusion, Dark Armed Dragon, Rescue Rabbit etc from the perspective of yugioh's history (not claiming any of these are or aren't degenerate currently).

These three cards are all, generally speaking, laughably weak. Majesty's Fiend has powerful applications, sure, but it's not in itself a particularly powerful card since it's all relative to the environment. I just find it funny that Vanity's Ruler was used in any deck ever when Vanity's Fiend is almost strictly better in every way.

@Black, I think you're applying the term "degenerate" too broadly. I do understand where you're coming from, but it's a word with a stronger meaning behind it than I think you think it has.

If we're talking bad games, I hate playing Genryu - first of all because we already HAVE a Dragon type, but in practice, they usually have multiple Supply Unit and a facedown monster  so I don't attack until I can blow up their field.

Even in the best case, where they don't have Supply Unit, they just keep walling over and over.

I mean if they're playing Supply Squad they're not even playing the deck right.

And they're totally fine bar Jiaotu/Baxia/Incarnation/Sorta the avarice. Wow, they can wall you unless you actually run good cards. How terrible.
