Greiga
2 Level 4 monsters You can only use 1 "Castel the Avian Skyblaster" effect per turn, and only once that turn. You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 face-up monster on thefield; change that monster to face-down Defense Position. You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card, then target 1 other face-up card on the field; shuffle that target into the Deck. 2 Level 4 monsters You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card, then target 1 Special Summonedmonster your opponent controls in face-up Attack Position; attach it to this card as a face-up Xyz Material. You can only use this effect of "Number 101: Silent Honor ARK" once per turn. If this face-up card would be destroyed, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead. Common points + 2-mat R4 + Eliminating threats without destroying + WATER Aqua and WIND Winged-Beast, two types and attributes with some good support + Truly generic, fits in any deck that can get 2 level 4s. - Weak, not running over Midrash and SHArk tying with boosted level 4 Qlips - Detaches both materials for monster removal 101 vs Castel • 101 detaches both materials to activate its only effect, reviving it outside of walling is silly, and why would you wall with this thing? It's weak. • Castel has an effect for 1 material that's actually desirable, replacing Maestroke in decks that can fit it and can still run over a few bosses due to some still having low DEF. • While 101 has the illusion of the monster being sealed off, punching it instantly sends that monster to the graveyard, where most decks want it to go bar Qlips. And IMO 101 is not the go-to Xyz vs Qlips. • Castel seals off the monster for at least a turn (ideally), and most monsters have hated spinning for a while (besides Zero, who doesn't care about anything besides 101). • 101 is 100ATK more than Castel, and as mentioned before can wall. • Castel hits CARDS. (Thanks Armz) Discuss who you think is better, who deserves the spot in tight extras, etc. (Or should you be running both)? Or you can discuss the points I brought up and tell me if I'm right or wrong or confused. Or find if I missed anything. Also, some yugituber has a list that says Castel is staying a Super. AGATHODAIMON BANGTAIL COW
If you have to pick one of the two, go with Castel. It can hit anything 101 can and more, doesn't trigger "when sent to Grave" effects (relevant vs. Shaddolls), and 101's protection effect sometimes won't matter (but it is nice to have a second life on it, even if its 21 beater status is not that much). Somewhat irrelevant, but, I think I'm starting to actually grasp card design by seeing how Castel is worse design than 101 instead of just looking at specific members saying what is and isn't and blindly following because I have no idea for myself. Toffee.
Just be a pro and run 2 ARK(Since, you know, that's basically the norm) and a Castel. I mean, why would you run either or? If you have 2 spaces, just run 1 of each. They each have their pros and cons, and typically, they can cover for eachother. Oh, and TC, you forgot to mention that Castel can hit Face-up CARDS. Maeriberii Haan
Oh, and TC, you forgot to mention that Castel can hit Face-up CARDS. This is huge. Hitting Floodgates and turning them into dead draws can be quite vital.

Blake
Castel's overall better. 101 is an amazing card that's good as a straight-up beater, chump blocker, or stealing cards that were likely left there due to overextension. It generally rewards playing correctly, and is all around a good R4 choice... But Castel is generically better. It can spin anything, meaning it can disable Bujins/Deneb/Yang Zing/Doll Fusions/etc. that weren't special summoned, without putting them into the bin. It's technically versatile, though very few decks will actually use its versatility. It's also better than Maestroke because, unlike Maestroke, it's not restricted to ATK position and opponent only. It's more comparable to Zenmaister in the personal applications.
the_engineer
Castel might see popularity if it is Super Rare (like Cairn) But i'm expecting it to be secret and to be at 70-80 bucks just like fagciton knight

This depends on the deck, but if I have 2 spaces and I don't want to squeeze out a 3rd space I generally run Castel and someone else like Chain or Emeral over Castel and ARK. heraldry_lord
I think Castel is better overall, since it has more targets, but 101 is still good. I think the most likely way 101 will stop being good is if Tribute Summoned bosses become the norm.

Spenсe
The fact that Castel can hit sidedeck continuous cards is pretty huge (royal decree/macro cosmos shut down a lot of decks). Otherwise, 101 is just better.
