Poc
This deck feels like its trying to do too much. Replace the Fulminator mages with tech edges, Take out the Thragtusks (they are only really good in pod for modern) move the leylines to the sideboard and add another goyf and a playset of Hierarch (or birds if your poor). Fill out the rest with Digs and Cruises. If you want to play a midrange control deck look the UWx midrange lists. They are build around few strong and resilient creatures that win the game by itself (geist, colonade) with removal and control elements to protect and clear the way for them. BG rock decks are built around out valuing your opponent with super efficient cards and removal. You'll find most of the time your spell snares will be dead draws since your not fully devoted to a control shell. I'd leave them in the sideboard and replace it with dismember or maelstrom pulse. Creaturewise, other than the thragtusk, it looks pretty good. I'd not use Obliterators at all, They are hard to cast and will either get pathed, cryptic commanded, or just ignored before they can do anything. Fulminator Mage and Tech Edges are both cards to use together. Increasing the land count isn't necessarily helpful if he isn't playing to make more use out of the entire thing. Add another Goyf, yes. It is the best card in the format because of its ability to do nothing and be that strong. Not easily manageable with anything but Black Removal, Path and Abrupt Decay. Running four is essential for any BGx Midrange deck. A playset of Noble Hierarch is pointless, though. There is no need to ramp and the 1st turn should be used for Thoughtseize/Inquisition. He is right about Thragtusk. I mentioned it last time by accident. Sorry. I was trying to also convince a friend to run it in sideboard for 4 color gifts. BGx is a Midrange that can play both tempo and control when it needs to be, better than UWx Midrange decks can. You are looking linearly at what BG decks are described as, and not with any background on playing. Sure they trade 1 for 1, but they put down better pressure with protection and answers. Instead of being reactive, which is a major fault of UWx Midrange Decks in Modern, these are proactive, for an easily manipulated game plan depending on what your opponent is doing. Spell Snare right now is an all star in the format with Burn, Delver, Scapeshift, etc. It is only a dead card most of the time in the Pod match up, but i still wouldn't play more than 1. Poc is right to play things like Dismember or Maelstrom Pulse, but that is going to be adapted because of how many Darkblasts you are running. I would only run 1 or two and replace the other with a Maelstrom Pulse due to the number of tokens that are being played more often now. At worse, it is a Dismember that plays a slower roll. Leyline of the Void isn't even worth it in Sideboard. You are going to rely on your opponent's graveyard for Goyf and Scooze. Scooze is your number 1 graveyard hard card, if not, run something in sideboard if you're really worried. Note: You can't respond to Delve since it is part of the cost. You could play less shocklands to play 2 Darkslick Shore or 2 Creeping Tar Pit. You could also go to 25 lands and play 2 Tectonic Edge along side Fulminator Mage for that ability to hit lands from two different angles. You should really only need to run 5-7 shocklands with at least 2 basics because of cards like Blood Moon, Path to Exile and Ghost Quarter. Surprisingly, they aren't played much, but you will almost always face 1 deck like this in 5 rounds. Abrupt Decay is worth maining entirely, especially because of how important it is in every match up besides pod. Sideboarding is weird for BUG. You have access to amazing Blue Cards like Spreading Seas, Hurkyl's Recall, and Threads of Disloyalty. It would work to fit both Spreading Seas and Threads of Disloyalty in this deck, for the sideboard because of how efficient they are in what they do. It takes away from Leyline of the Void and some other removal because you can't always be the control deck, sometimes you have to be the aggressive deck. Interesting to use Illness, but it should only be 1. Maelstrom is more efficient and out classes Illness in the Ranks because it gets rid of Tarmo and Seige Rhino, which Lightning Bolt sucks at. I wouldn't use it at all since you already have an amazing matchup against Twin, which is the reason to use this card. Your sideboard looks built, but you could have more times relying too specifically on one card in your sideboard. Variety is important with this type due to how many angles the game can play out. Golgari Charm in these colors is also efficient because it gets rid of Rest in Peace and Tokens too, which you might be worried about. Another 1-of card that has variety. A great card, but not always the greatest either. The sideboard construction of GBx midrange has about 7-9 different cards that are important to most, if not all match ups. Tron: Spreading Seas, Shadow of Doubt, Vendilion Clique, Thoughseize, Hurkyl's. Affinity: Hurkyl's, Golgari Charm, Spreading Seas, Threads of Disloyalty, Darkblast, Maelstrom Pulse, and removal, Drown in Sorrow, Fulminator Mage UWr Control: Spellskite, Spreading Seas, Golgari Charm, Hand Disruption, Thrun, Liliana, Vendilion Clique Pod: Grafdigger's Cage, Drown in Sorrow, Threads of Disloyalty, Maelstrom Pulse. Jeskai Ascendancy: Golgari Charm, Liliana of the Veil, Grafdigger's Cage, Fulminator Mage, Hand Disruption. Delver: Drown in Sorrow, Golgari Charm, Thrun, Removal. Mirror: Thrun, Maelstrom Pulse, and keep removal, Fulminator Mage Scapeshift: Hand Disruption, Liliana, Vendilion Clique, Fulminator Mage and Tec Edge. Burn: Feed the Clan, Removal, Hand Disruption. Sometimes counterspells. Spell Pierce is another One-of recommendation if you care enough.
