So, I stumbled upon this while looking through the news on my phone. Honestly, the order is just a ridiculous one in that it forces a single dog not to bark at night. If it was all dogs, then it may hold a bit more merit, still ridiculous though, but singling a dog out for barking and punishing the owner is not smart imo. So, discuss this folks.

You know that in some cases, the dogs are alerting their owner of a potential burglar roaming their property.

So why are we punishing them for doing their job, or natural instincts?

Granted, I could see them being annoying otherwise; especially late at night, but how exactly did this neighbor in question have their health decreased by the barking.

That being said, this is Croatia, which I've no idea on how their affairs work in that part of the world, though I can guess their law system + things aren't refined lke many of the major countries. I sincerely apologize if this offends anyone, though.

Even then, this is pretty stupid if they punished all dogs for barking at night, and the $3000 fine is also ridiculous.

Suppose the concept of earmuffs and stuff hadn't occurred to this neighbor.

I could see it being useful for the dog near me that barks into the small hours, usually because it's outside, but it's totally unenforceable. We don't let my dog out late luckily (or rather he's not interested in it).

I do agree on Sakura's guard dog point. This is more when the dog just consistently barks.

I suppose the health point might be down to being unable to sleep/headaches, etc.
