Forest Fire
Pot of Avidity Spell/Quick-PlayShuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck; add up to 2 cards from your Deck to your hand. This turn, you can only activate 1 card whose name is the same as one of the cards you added to your hand by this effect. You cannot Special Summon or conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this effect. You can only activate 1 "Pot of Avidity" per turn. This is, in my opinion, isn't that bad. If you made it a draw 2, instead of just add any 2 cards from the deck to your hand, that would be much better."Shuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck; draw up to 2 cards. You cannot Special Summon the turn you activate this effect. You can only activate 1 "Pot of Avidity" per turn." Also, the Quick-Play part is unnecessary. Pot of AvidityNormal SpellAt the start of your Main Phase 1/2: Shuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck; draw up to 2 cards. You cannot Special Summon or activate other spell cards; except "Pot Avidity" the turn you activate this effect. Forest Fire
This makes it more upstart for things like exodia. How about no. Well, it can't just be a draw 2, there has to be a cost, right? otherwise it would be an immediately better upstart and duality. (in one card!) if i did a discard, BA would just love the ever-living shit out of it. maybe a draw 2, with the upstart and the duality cause? nah. exodia would still love it. um. help. Flash Flyer - Sakura
That, and any other Deck that needs to excessively draw for their key cards. In most cases, it's a +1 for you. As Giga mentioned above, Exodia Decks can just use this to get rid of non-pieces for more chances of searching out that one last piece. Either that, or another card that'll add them. --- Have you considered BANISHING the card instead? Either way, Exodia will still abuse it since I don't believe they even summon often (let alone a SS); so the original limitations of SS/BP lock wouldn't really matter. --- At least you put an OPT on it, so they can't readily abuse further copies, but this sort of idea is difficult to really fix, without screwing the idea up. You could instead change it to recovering stuff from the Graveyard; since there are still a few Decks outside of Exodia that could use it. You could probably drop the SS lock on it or something if you do this path, but making it recover cards in the Grave does change the intent a bit. ...See Exodia, this is why we can't have nice things... (GigaDrillBreaker)
Stop the user from activating spell cards for the rest of turn. That breaks off Exodia's chain of plays. If that isn't enough, force the activation timing, like on Pot of Dichotomy. With though two changes, the card beco,e absolutely unplayable in exodia, and becomes a consistency buff in decks that run a low spell count. Trisengan
It would be cool to have cards that had a clause on them like "This card cannot be used in the same Deck as any "Forbidden One" cards", it seems drawing effects are all limited to 1 because of that guy... Radiant F.U.R.Y.™
What if, instead of an OPT clause, you added a clause that said "you cannot add cards to your hand outside of the Draw Phase this turn, except by the effect of pot of avidity." so you would have this: Shuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck; draw up to 2 cards. You cannot Special Summon the turn you activate this effect. You cannot add cards to your hand outside of the Draw Phase this turn, except by the effect of "Pot of Avidity". Now instead of preventing the spamming of this card, you are preventing draw/add spam in general, EXCEPT with this card. less love for exodia.dek and, IMO a bit more balanced

Radiant F.U.R.Y.™
just a couple of tweaks for OCG/PSCT At the start of your Main Phase: Shuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck; draw up to 2 cards. You cannot Special Summon or activate Spell Cards this turn, except "Pot of Avidity".
(GigaDrillBreaker)
It should probably say "main phase 1" otherwise you could activate multiple in the same turn. At the start of your Main Phase 1: Shuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck; draw up to 2 cards. You cannot Special Summon monsters or activate Spell Cards until the end of this turn.
