JessicaMuddy
I'm doing an assignment for school, and it is a presentation on how video games make me who I am. I also have to have an interview in the presentation, so I decided I would interview you guys! (Referred to as my Internet Friends) So I want to know. What do video games mean to you? To me, They are a way to entertain me, make or play with friends, or even a way to teach me something I didn't know. PS: If this is in the wrong place, please move it. PPS: Please don't give silly answers. PPPS: Please tell me if you want to be anonymous or not. (Though it really shouldn't matter)
Cool Girl
I agree with everything you said. To me, video games are a way of entertainment!
Northern Sage
Video games, to me, are an experience. An immersion unlike any other, which you can interact with. Entire worlds at your disposal. It might be sappy, but that really is how I feel about it. Of course, they are very entertaining and an escape from reality, too. ~ P O L A R I S ~
Lots of nostalgia there! :D My cousin relinquished his SNES with Super Metroid, FFVI and I inherited them gleefully and have been playing them for years since!
Simping For Hina
They mean very little to me. I play them to pass the time, really.
宇佐見 蓮子@C94
Depends on the kind of game, to be honest. You don't play DDR for a deep immersive experience, the same way you don't play Shin Megami Tensei for a quick short fun or two. As for me, I tend to gravitate towards rhythm games, so games is really just a way to pass time while also seeing just inhumanly fast my reflexes can get to. Cosmo.
To me videogames mean what i couldn't do IRL, now tell me when IRL i could become a warrior with dragon blood and slay dragons with magic in a medieval northern land filled with mythical creatures... Videogames aren't just enjoyment, they are creativity and each one of them is a masterpiece in its own way (NOT LOOKING AT ZELDA CD-I!), just looking at artwork and music. Also they got me many new awesome friends! Videogames also contain a lot of nostalgia in them, for example i remember playing Go Vacation with my cousin when it was released and we had way too much fun with it! Videogames, just like movies or books are also a way to tell stories, just look at telltale-esque games, i've seen videogames' plots deeper than some recent movies! Right now nothing else comes to mind though
.Rooster
It's like fun, that contributes nothing to your health. It is a very radical concept.
Novalaxia
Depending on the type of video games you play, they can kinda bring on a lot of different emotions. Some make you cry, some can make you really tired, and probably all of them can make you angry if you're just going to give up on the game and throw it and everything associated with it out the window. I just play video games because of the amount of variety you have from genre to genre. There are so many interesting mechanics in some games that make you feel like you want to play them to see how far you'll progress with what you're given and allow you to express your creative affinity for the game. Some games even play in a completely different manner than you'd expect, but still has that feel you'd expect from a game in that genre. This is why I love ROM hacks and speedruns, because the amount of devotion to the game that makes you want to try something new is really interesting, and just awe-inspiring if done right.
