I really, honestly do appreciate YCM

Let me get sappy for a bit.

I've been hanging around this joint for over 5 years by this point. I know that ain't much for some of you super-oldies, but considering, it's still quite a while. When I first joined this place after hearing about it in YGOTAS, I was... pretty much about as much of a noob as you could get. My spelling was poor, I acted quite queer, and to all the cool people I could not near.

Here, I found something special. Something I couldn't find anywhere else. Granted, I wasn't looking too hard, but still. I found community.

Here I learned that spelling properly makes you look like a respectable human being. Here I learned how to act around people, who to avoid and who to approach, how to be a productive member of the community.

One of those things I didn't do, but still. It might seem sad, but this place has had a massive impact on my life these past five years. My thoughts, my position in life, my interests. All of it has at least been influnced by the members and culture of this place, if not been the origin of.

We might shittalk this grimey forsaken dungheap on a regular basis, but I still consider it my home. I found my friends here, I found my interests here, and I'll probably stick around until this website crashes and burns from neglect. Friends come, friends go, websites die, but YCM shall be forever in my heart.

...what am I even saying right now

It's definitely my internet home. Aside from friends I've made here, I owe YCM for:

-My anime obsession

-That 800+pg book I wrote that one time

-Helping me appreciate constructive criticism

-Teaching me competitive Pokémon

-Getting me to watch all the YGO sequel series

-Internet acculturation

-Fostering my art appreciation

And can't forget:

-What not to do

It's a good time.

YCM has always been my Online home. Back in 2008, I was terrified to do anything on the Internet at all. I had a Administration Job and YCM helped me to relax during my  Break Times. I also met a whole bunch of great Peeps (some of who are even here today) and actually felt like I was wanted. I was then a Mod for a time and felt like I had a purpose on the Net. I may not be here as much these days but the memories of the 2008-2010 will always be in my heart. Thank you so much for these lovely memories.
