Ooh, that does look fun! I don't get why they randomly added Acid Golem to the list of legal cards though. Seems very out of place, given they haven't added any other Xyzs and no Synchros.

Probably because it's the riskiest xyz in the game. All the other xyzes are basically upgrades, but acid golem is an upgrade that can destroy you.

They explained all the additions somewhere on the site - basically they wanted to add an Xyz and Acid Golem seemed the best choice because it actually has a serious downside to making it, whereas with other Xyz it's almost always the best choice to reach for the extra deck.

I've been playing it with Chris for a couple days and it's easily one of the most fun interpretations of Goat format I've seen. Been playing Spellcaster Chaos since Magical Undertaker is a funking MVP with Apprentice Magician in the format.

It seems interesting... I have never played "Goat format" before but they said on the blog that Newgioh was easy to understand. I'm personally think they should have kept the 'person who goes first doesn't draw' rule, but I guess if the game is slower then it doesn't matter as much.

I might give it a go for fun.

I mean I would have personally thought adding Synchros instead of the XYZ cancer would have been better

There's only 1 Xyz, which is Acid Golem. Even then it's the only Xyz added because it makes you think about whether you want to reach for your Extra Deck or not from a Tour Guide since it actually does have a substantial downside in the format.

Yata should be legal in the format IMO

Although it may be considered winmoar, this isn't the kind of format where yata should be legal.

This format is cancer, has absolutely nothing to do with Goat Format and is literally a way for ARG to artificially inflate the value of random cards. Kris refused to take anyone's opinion into consideration during beta testing.

For example, we told him multiple times that RftDD to 1 made zero sense with 3 DiFusion. Guess what's getting emergency limited/banned?

@Yata since phone is being dumb and won't let me separate quotes

It would reduce the power of PoG and allow for a more controlled momentum shift

That being said, I haven't played Goat since it was legal, I never found the format appealing and never quite took to it, so my views are likely worth sheet

Wait, us, RftDD is at 1 there, but DiFusion is at 3? Who the funk made that list?

Kris Perovic. He had a bunch of us beta testing the format before it went public and everyone told him numerous times why the list was awful. Much like ARG's owner, he does not take anyone's advice and always thinks he's right.

Can we just not?

If you don't like the game in it's current format state (like I do), then what's the point in trying to re-define the rules and format and also the general skill and experience required to actually play the game? Just don't play the game. It takes much less effort and time than to completely reconstruct the idea of the game based on an old tradition from about 10 years ago.

Nobody's putting this forward as an absolute replacement to yugioh. It's just an extra thing to play because it's fun (I think) and a bit of an alternative. A lot of people play goats and this is basically equivalent.

And yet, people do it anyway, and some apparently like it.

That's the point of an alternative format: playing the game in a different way that is more suited to your tastes.  The main format (Advanced) will still be there. This particular one may have its issues, but I like the basic idea.
