Metroid Prime: Federation Force

Well it's not if you waited 11 years for something good from Metroid and then something completely unrelated to the main story.

So am I the ONLY one who wants to know what happened after Fusion?

Don't even get me started on the bloody releases. All the titles we SHOULD have had AT LAUNCH OF THE WIIU, we didn't get, Zelda, Metroid, even Mother/Earthbound.

Get it together Nintendo, you've been a mess since Miyamoto stepped down

If you're gonna complain, at least come up with something new. People have been saying stuff like that for ages and they've been wrong since then, too. Nintendo's doing fine, you're just pissy they're not making the games you want.

Exactly. No one can meet everyone's expectations all the time. There will be disappointments, you just have to deal with those until you finally find a diamond in the rough.

I know they made a Prime Pinball game, but at least Prime 3/Hunters came with it.

Here, there's nothing, and if six years have been spent on this, I'm selling all my Nintendo stuff because this is beyond a joke.

RUINED FOREVER comes to mind when I read this.

Thats not what I said.

Metroid Prime, despite humungous perspective shift is one of the best games by Nintendo, and thats a pretty tall statement. Everyone said it would suck.

Hyrule Warriors, despite not actually being a Zelda game in gameplay or timeline context, still had many Zelda elements, however simple. Everyone said it would suck.

Wind Waker had a huge art style change, and a massive tone change. Everyone said it would suck.

Those games were all f***ing brilliant but what this is, is pure, unadulterated heresy.

It's not even close to it's source material so whats the point of this.

Give us more Samus and wrecking space pirates, not a co-op shooter that looks like a Wii shovelware game.

11 years I've waited for a good Metroid game.

Here's to another 11.

This just looks sad.

Romhacks exist, and they're better than what Nintendo released.

You missed the point entirely.

The point is that Fusion ended on a cliff hanger, we've had an okay pair of sequels, a hand-cramp simulator, a pinball game and Other M since 2004. Excuse me If I'm a little mad.

We're never going to get one, so it's time to forget about a Metroid 5 until they announce one.

Now imagine how angry Sonic fans must be, cuz they've NEVER gotten a good game!

Not for awhile, I got a lot of the older stuff back in this big sale on Sonic games on Steam ages ago and played through stuff like CD and 1-3.

I've got a lot of problems with Sonic games even dating back to the original, but that's another conversation.

It also doesn't take not having a main game for awhile for people to get all uppity about stuff like this, look at the dislikes/comments on the Animal Crossing amiibo Festival trailer. Yeah, it's not a new actual Wii U Animal Crossing, but I think it looks really good.

That I think was a matter of expectation. We knew an Animal Crossing game was coming to the Wii U and a lot of people were expecting another main series game. I also think part of it might also be the Amiibo function since it seems heavily tied with it.

As I said in the E3 thread, a lot of the blowback is likely due to expectations. We wanted something big but all we got were spinoffs so people are missing the good that IS there because they wanted something different. Honestly, can't due much about it, though I'm not sure how much it matters. Odds are most Nintendo fans will be buying at least half the games they showed off anyway.

The worst part is that everyone seems to forget how lame City Folk was.

imo Wild World and New Leaf proved how superior that franchise is on handhelds. Sales alone point to that.

Don't really feel like playing a mainline AC game on home consoles. Will gladly take the spin-offs better fit for Wii U.

Your not the only person I've seen saw this. And it makes sense for the type of game Animal Crossing is.

Anyway, lets try to stay at least tangentially on topic with Metroid and the massive blowback this, and the press conference in general caused.

That Nintendo guy responded to all the hate.

Here’s what I would state: we know what our fans want. We will also push the envelope in developing something that we know is high-quality and that we know will deliver in the marketplace. The best example I can give you of this, and I think you will appreciate it, is Legend of Zelda Wind Waker. Remember when that art style was first shown. The uproar from the Zelda community was intensely negative. If there had been social media then, there probably would have been a petition to make that game go away.

So, the game is developed, becomes one of the most beloved games of all time, one of the most highly-rated games of all time, so I use that example to say: ‘We know what we’re doing, trust us, play the game and then we can have a conversation.’ —Reggie Fils-Aime

Reggie drops the mic once again.
