Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard. Once per turn: You can declare 1 card name; if that card is in your opponent's hand, they must banish all copies of it, otherwise you take 2000 damage.

I feel the drawback hurts a little too hard if you miss. The fact that you're stuck to using the effect during your Main Phase makes it a little less awesome than Mind Crush.

 

And if your opponent responds to this effect with Imperial Iron Wall, they won't be able to banish those cards and you take 2000 damage.

This effect would be hard to get off. And sadly there isn't many ways to force them to have a card in hand. Perhaps declare a Spell Card type/Monster type... Perhaps level? Otherwise I see no reason to really run this in anything. Don't get me wrong... It's good... Just not good enough. Imo I don't think its worth the risk... You can blindside your opponent so that's good...

If you can read the opponent's strategies well enough, you can probably hazard a good guess as to what the opponent may have in their hand.

But yeah, guess wrong and you will suffer a significant amount of burn.

 

As mentioned, Mind Crush is a better alternative; while yes, it only discards things to the Graveyard; it doesn't come with a hand discard.

In certain cases, you might not want your hand to be forcibly discarded, but this card does have its risks as Gadjiltron said.

 

Hitting a certain card Type (Spell / Trap / Monster) would be a better idea, and less likely to flounder on you.

It seems like a pretty decent card to be honest. There's nothing stopping you using this AND Mind Crush anyway: Simply use Mind Crush to look at your opponent's hand, if you get it correct, great, if not just use this and banish any card in your opponent's hand. This could be a decent card in 'chaos' decks for removing pesky cards such as Honest as well.

 

2000 damage is quite a bit, but you would have to be silly to try and randomly snipe you opponent's hand, obviously you would find a way to know what was in their hand first. Or you could have a card such as Prime Material Dragon on the field, that way it's a win-win situation for you: Either banish a card(s) from your opponent's hand or gain 2000 LP.

That doesn't really seem like a great argument, supposing this is Casual Cards.
