Deskboot Jet iz actuly rlly gud.combo [3 card OTK]

Recommended Posts

NOTE:  This can be a 2 card combo with 1 turn of setup.  You essentially only need Deskbot 001 in the Grave and a blank field, and your normal summon.  The only way to set that up without using your normal summon so thw whole combo can take place in 1 turn is Foolish Burial, so we goin with that.

Starting Hand

  • Foolish Burial
  • Deskbot 003
  • Machine Duplication or Inferno Reckless Summon.

The Combo

  1. Activate Foolish Burial and send Deskbot 001
  2. Normal Summon Deskbot 003
  3. Special Summon Deskbot 002 using 003's effect
  4. Search Deskbot 005 with 002's effect
  5. Activate Machine Duplication or Inferno Reckless Summon targeting 002
  6. Search Deskbot 006 and Deskbot 003 from the 2 searches of the 002s' effects
  7. Special Summon 001 from your Graveyard with it's own effect
  8. Synchro your entire field (1 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 3 = 10) for Deskbot Jet
  9. Activate 005 as a Pendulum Card
  10. Activate Deskbot Jet's effect, destroying both 005 and any opponent's card.
  11. Activate 005's effect when destroyed to Special Summon 002 from your Graveyard
  12. Search another Deskbot 005 using 002's effect
  13. Complete your Pendulum Scale using 005 and 006
  14. Pendulum Summon 003 from your hand and 005 from your Extra Deck.
  15. Revive 001 from your Graveyard with it's own effect once again.  If needed, activate 005's effect to destroy and opponent's S/T

At this point you have searched 4 times, potentially popped 2 opponent's cards, and your field is 5 Deskbot monsters, and 2 Deskbot Cards in your Pendulum Zones.  Time for some maths for how much attack they all have:

  • Deskbot 002 Boosts all your other Bots by 500, but is not boosted by any other cards at this point in the game state.  Currently at 500 attack
  • Deskbot 005 cannot boost himself, as in this situation your extra deck is empty of Deskbots.  However, that may not be the case in actual play.  Boosted by 002. Current Attack: 1000 minimum
  • Deskbot 003 Boosts 1 Deskbot by 500 for each Deskbot card you currently control.  You control 7.  So thats +3500 to any bot this turn.  Boosted by 002.  Current attack: 1000.  +3500 to total damage potential
  • Deskbot 001 Gains 500 attack for each machine you control.  You control 5, so that's +2500 attack.  Boosted by 002.  Current Attack: 3500
  • Deskbot Jet gains 500 for each Deskbot Card you control.  You control 7, so that's +3500 attack.  Boosted by 002.  Current Attack: 4500
  • Total Potential Damage this turn: 14,000 Minimum, Further Increased by Deskbots in your Extra Deck.

Wow Jet is so mediocre.  It enables their easiest combo to become their highest power field you can possibly get.  Just so mediocre.

Relying on a 3-card combo is in no way (especially if 2 of the cards are not searchable) a justification to something, unless it is always good, this card however definitely has a far too high level for deskbots that they like to go into it.

The most obvious combo with dup (which is a staple anyways for its huge power in deskbots (at least for them)) is obviously definitely NOT an exception if said card requires much dedication and outside of that combo would be a risky manoeuvre.

If you also run 3 inferno reckless that's another 3 ways to draw into machine derp

Run some Mathematicians to dump 001

You kinda need to open with 003 to win that game (realistically, and this coming from a guy whose friend literally plays nothing but deskbots and know the deck inside and out.)

Those 3 cards are not that hard to get in your hand at once with a little setup.  And jet is not that hard to make either.  004 can make it almost by itself by sending 005 on the attack for a +2500 boost and reviving 005 and 001 on the kill.

This isn't the end all Deskbot combo, but it's one of the most consistent, sets up an absolutely gorgeous field, gives you your scale set and ready to go, and all this for only 3 cards, while you have another 3 cards for setup or protection should you not actually otk somehow with 14000 total dmg on board.

Then plays 3 inferno, 3 machine dup, clog your deck even more and hope your opponent has no answer to your favourite play.

Thing is they are good to go anyways if they get 3 and dup, not to mention foolish.

To be honest, it will get quite a bit easier for them to summon supposing they continue getting members of an increasing level.

True but currently they need 2+ cards (2 with 1+4+5 or 1+3+6) or even more, yea it can be worth it, however most times you do not want to dedicate too many resources into such a synchro.

(And hoping to mass summon 2 to make up for that does not solve it either).

I don't know if you noticed, but up to step 7 this combo is the same as the standard OTK Deskbot Play. But you know what that play doesn't do? Pop 2 cards and search a 4th time.

Am I the only one that realizes that Jet is a combo piece? It wasn't designed to end a combo with strong damage and/or removal. It wasn't designed to start a combo with a low level and auto floating effects for your monsters. Deskbot Jet is what we in the fighting game community know as a linker.

It takes an already satisfactory combo, finds a way to extend it, and in doing so, makes it better. Yeah, the longer your combo is the more damage scales down, but it's still better than what you had originally. Deskbot Jet takes so much effort to make simply because of this design choice. Jet opens up an enourmous window of possibilities for the deck, simply for the fact you can kill your own scale to grab more Deskbots or do some low grade removal, in addition to triggering more effects.

Deskbots Jet is the same as Mecha Phantom Beast Jacruslan for their respective archetypes. Does it take a bit of effort and planning to whip it out? Yeah. Does it solve any of the deck's major problems? funk no. Is it a fantastic card for the archetype when used in the correct situations? funk yes.

People say this card sucks, but this card is literally one of the few generic Towers outs in the game. That by itself already makes it good for the metagame at the moment.

.... I never even noticed that it was a generic level 10 scrap dragon. Hot damn this is good.
