GarlandChaos
Have I ever said how much I love this thing's effect? ...no? Well, let me just say that being able to reliably pop a face-down without it blowing up in your face anyway is pretty sweet. But when compared to cards like Dust Tornado, Galaxy Cyclone, Mystical Space Typhoon, etc., how does it stand? Discuss.
Trebuchet MS
I cannot give a reliable judgment since I love having a plethora of Chainable Traps at my fingertips. But based on what I observe from various other discussions, MST and Dust Tornado still win out in being able to snuff out face-up floodgates that will otherwise give you a bad time. It seems to be one of the few things these cards are good for lately. Night Beam can only work on those things if they're not already up. I'd personally prioritize MST over Beam, and would only use Beam if I need more than 3 MSTs.
Lee Cheng Men
Night Beam's one of those cards that the OCG seems to love for some reason, but there's not much of a point to playing it since it doesn't stop anything truly devastating anyways. Expelsword
This card was displaced in the only deck it really shined in (Diamond Dude) by Galaxy Cyclone, and MST is definitely superior to both in most decks.
Astolfo
So like, at first I thought it was pretty good. And then I saw it didn't kill face-ups.And the last clause means only that specific card can't be chained to Night Beam itself, the opponent could just chain a different card first and then the card you chose. And then I was like, nah. ihop
I mean there are so many options for s/t removal these days and being chainable is very important, and it's not like Cyclone which has utility in decks that mill and generally gives you more bang for your buck especially since there aren't all that many chainable traps these days. Compulsory Evacuation Device is at 3 there, which makes a big difference.
