Lingering Power

Continuous Spell

When this card is activated: You can add from your Deck to your hand 1 monster with 2000 or less ATK and with an effect that activates when/if it is destroyed by battle. Effects of monsters in your possession that activate when/if they are destroyed by battle will also be able to activate if they are destroyed by card effects. You can only activate 1 "Lingering Power" per turn.

Basically what the title says. This is intended to give battle floaters (When/if this card is destroyed by battle: [insert effect here]) a little push by making their effects a bit more reliable, given the predominance of effect destruction. However, this card is not bound to only supporting that kind of monsters, since it should be able to pick cards whose effect activates on both kinds of destruction, as long as they include "by battle" in their floating condition, such as Fire/ice Hands and, yes, Flame Mascot and Ariadne. The latter feels like a slippery slope, so I would appreciate feedback on that perk.

Thoughts?

Yes, that was intended. I did mention Flame mascot in the OP.

But a searcher for these sorts of monsters makes the 2nd effect more of a means of abusing said effects and would basically turn everything into a Flame Mascot of sorts; Basically you could drop something like Dark Hole, with a field of monsters, and still make additional plays off of all of them, which is cute.

Oh, and This card searches all the Level 3 Graydle monsters and also lets them trigger off anything, instead of just what they specifically trigger off of.

Correct. It would enable cute combos by destroying your own Giant Rats and the like. And really, Graydles badly need the boost for them to have any chance at standing against the meta.

I understand that searching for Flame Mascots and etc. it's a dangerous deal. If it's that problematic, I can easily "patch" this card's effect, no problem. But to be honest, I wanted to see if I could get away with it somehow.

If you want to keep it balanced while keeping the idea of it giving battle floaters more ways to activate, make it the OPPONENT'S card effects. Makes it less abusable with Dark Hole/torrential Tribute/etc doing nothing to you, and still makes it harder for the opponent to get around them by just destroying them with a card effect.

Also Just as a note, I'd like it to be 1500 or less for the search, to make it more like ye olde battle searchers. Maybe that's just me. I like flavor like that.

I feel like you don't wholly grasp what makes Flame Mascot as good as it is.

As for the c\ard, it has such a broad spectrum of what it can search that it would undoubtedly cause more trouble than any positive effect it could have.

I agree. Hence my idea of limiting it to monsters with effects that activate exclusively when destroyed by battle, leaving out monsters such as Ariadne, Flame Mascot, Hand. etc.

Well, with these sort of ROTA/Tenki-ish cards, I better play it safe and go for the most restricted approach, right?
