Frightfur Sanctuary [anime]

Recommended Posts

As-is, it's pretty damn pointless except as set-up for a Frightfur Fusion of Mad Chimera. I mean, if you're running Fluffals then every Fusion you'll have will be a Frghtfur anyways, so... yeah, if this card is released then it'll get some kind of buff. Or it'll get Fortissimo'ed. (As in made crappy.)

It's a plot device as-is. It's pretty much set-up for Mad Chimera or Sabre Tiger, but the problem is that Sabre Tiger in the anime ignored Summoning Conditions for the Frightfur it SSed from the Grave. The RL version does not do this, making this card useless for supporting Sabre Tiger.

And you're not going to run a card like this in Fluffals to fuel Mad Chimera, unless it gets another effect along the lines of "When this card is sent to the Graveyard, do something amazing", which is Fluffal supports' big shtick. Toy Vendor searches, Frightfur Factory grabs a banished Des-Toy Fusion.

And the "treat as Frightfur" thing is pointless outside of the anime context, but if it treated ALL your monsters as Frightfurs, it'd be interesting, both for boosting Scissor Tiger, but also making Mad Chimera infinitely easier to play.

.......Doesn't this thing make instant BLS / Dark Armed Dragon setup in a way?

I don't think either of those are worth running in Fluffals. The main monsters are all EARTH, except for the Edge Imps, which are DARK (and the Fusions). The Deck also doesn't have that much space to run potentially dead cards. It's very difficult to control the Graveyard in Fluffals to justify the DAD, and you have to add LIGHT monsters to run BLS.

In addition, the Deck has more than enough removal via Frightfur Tiger, making DAD superfluous at best.

It almost feels like they are trying to push Mad Chimera as the deck's ace, above all else.........

Very likely, at least in the anime.

Sora did unveil it against Shun when he was majorly pushed into a corner. And he was clearly about to use it against Yuto, declaring it the strongest Fusion monster.

And considering its Summon Condition is ridiculous compared to the other Fusions...yeah. Shame the RL version got nerfed so badly. I still believe Mad Chimera should have stolen the monster with its normal ATK, but halved damage. It's still a powerful card, but it's impractical for the effort required.

I'm also coming to the conclusion that Des-Toy Fusion in the anime requires you to use only Frightfur Materials for a Frightfur, because it's only ever been used to Summon Mad Chimera.

Actually, I wonder about that.

I think it's meant to be his ace (it's technically an upgrade to his OG Ace, Bear), but it's not his strongest.

He's implied, as of 87, that his strongest can beat over OERD, meaning it has over 3000, which it wouldn't be without stealing something.

True, I am hoping Frightfurs and Fluffals get more expansion, mostly because I adore the Deck.

And ever since Mad Chimera was revealed, they made weird support cards to support the idea of Frightfurs made from other Frightfurs becoming a thing (Designer Frightfur, Stupid Edge Imp), and we currently have Mad Chimera and Sabre Tooth requiring Frightfur Materials. Ironically, Sabre Tooth cannot use either of those support cards to fulfill its Summon Condition, making them seem REALLY dumb. Plus, Frightfur March supports the idea that the Fusions made with an Edge Imp + Fluffal are Level 7 and lower, and the Fusions that are Level 8 or higher use at least 1 Frightfur as a Material.

If there are indeed ever more Frightfurs needing 1+ Frightfurs as Material, then maybe a card like this will have some use as fodder fueling.

tbh, that's because fluffals were designed by a moron

The first set was designed around Edge Imp Sabres, alone.

Second set was designed around Chimera and attempting to mend the mistake of being Sabres-centric.

Third set was designed around Toypot and abusing Sabre Tiger.

it's a miracle the deck works as well as it does, but that's what the third set managed
