Hm, theory. Layton was disturbed by Sherlock's lack of manners and left him, Sherlock went on a rampage as a spurned lover and gives Gon stuff to beat up Layton's assistant out of jealousy.

Kyle and 2D were probs discussing how to kill Layton, then as 2D secretly tried to kill Kyle (what I think happened), the latter caught him as 2D ran, not fast enough as Kyle killed him.

That's my interpretation of Day/Night 6
