Just Crouton

Not looking down on anyone lol. I ate meat most of my life and I was raised in a family that hunts.

I'm saying the quality produced (meat) is dependent on both the suppliers (people who kill) and the demand (consumers). Just because you didn't kill the animal yourself does not absolve you of its murder

If you want to eat meat, sure. But get off your high horse of being innocent in the animals death. All the cruelty it undergoes is on you

Enguin's. Decreasing Marginal cost mate. It's cheaper to slaughter inhumanly than to kill them peacefully

So animal lives don't matter?

So plant lives don't matter?

Aix, I am almost certain you are playing devil's advocate. Stop.

As for Winter

Except there are better ways to do the killing. Most don't really know how bad it is in some of these places.

I see no problem with it when it's not painful and inhumane. And contrary to popular belief there are many that aren't like that.

By all means, be against these things. Spread the word about them.

But attacking, and insulting, those who simply eat the meat will do nothing.

Really now, I want you to focus on what I'm saying here.

If you continue to say things like that, I feel you're contributing to the problem. By ways of making people think your just after them for eating meat, and they won't want to listen to what you say.

The irony is strong with this one :D

What high horse lol. I literally said eating meat isn't inferior and I've done it most of my life.

I'm saying man up and accept the cruelty towards your food is done in large part because the people you demand production from are marginally better off mistreating the animals

Ever wonder why free range eggs cost more than regular eggs?

I'm just wondering about people's belief in the sanctity of life. Most people seem to think life has inherent value and yet don't care about the mass death of animals for food.

Your tone is condescending as funk.

But what you're doing is poking a bee's nest by posing these detached philosophical questions in the midst of all this. Time and place, Aix. Time and place.

Shrugs, my point was damned by name. If Phil had made the same point you wouldn't see the rep jerk train go off on the opposition. For once I agree with Laz. There is no point.

So arrogent prideful me is looking down on 15 years of me?

Again, how can I look down on myself???

It's not condescending as much as it's simple economics. Sorry I didn't sugar coat it?

The point is really not about meat vs no meat (infact eating fish is healthier than being a vegitarian like me) it's about the reponsibilty towards the animal cruelty which every person buying from say Tyson's (major meat producing firm) has a share in.

Because if you guys really gave a damn, you would be against that treatment and make it known to the firm...and they would HAVE to listen then

Cow there ARE people who eat meat who despise this type of treatment and those are the people that buy from those "happy animal"

Companies where 60 chickens aren't crammed in a cage to sheet out eggs before being decapitated.

I'm saying most people pretend to be shocked and appalled by this sort of video but will just go back tommorow and eat a steak made from the same type of tortured animal. It's not meant to be condescending as much as just asking people to accept reality

Anyway spinny is right, I should back off

In fairness to winter he is making fairly reasonable points this time.

To me it feels he's missing an important point.

Putting blame on people isn't going to help anything.

No one thinks torturing animals is good.

The majority of people don't realize there are as many of these instances as they are.

Continuing to tell people they are in the wrong for something they only vaguely know about...will not help.

If the only way to stop it is for everyone to stop eating meat, that's...not going to work. Nor should it. Because there are plenty of ways to get meat even mass-produced that isn't like the video.

Only when you start to be able to really explain to people the wrongs in the world, without coming off as attacking or condescending (Because, Winter, really. If several people are telling you you sound like you're doing that, then your words aren't being chosen well. You can keep saying what you're intention is but if it doesn't come off like that it just looks like you're lying to make yourself seem like the "good guy") will you be able to actually help these animals.
