that's called thought crime. actions might be illegal, but there is no reason to ban ideas. if somebody supports hitler enough to buy a flag, then they are already full blown supporters. there is nothing more that the flag is going to do for them. same goes for the confederate flag. the actions related are already banned, a flag is not going to create a plantation.

 

and as for the spread of ideas, that's a nonsensical argument. if a flag is all it takes to change somebodies mind on a subject, then they are probably not critical thinkers in any way, shape or form even without the influence of a flag. as for people who take offense to said flags. it's just a flag.

Thanks and sorry for stealing your arguments. While the praise is appreciated, cowcow has a point. misc is the happy place of the forum. The tones of general are a bit unfitting here i should use saikyou no shitpost to seal this topic.

Well, as hard as it is, let's take you seriously for a second. So you're saying that people are worth a lot on their own? Darwin? The guy who found penicillin? Hey, guess what? They wouldnt have done s*** without other people.

Hitler literally killed people because he didnt like them, so if you support that, then let's just take a precaution now and kill you too to stop you from hurting people in the future, you may argue this will make us just as bad as hitler, but we're doing it as self protection, not just because we dont like you.

Also, if you say supporting hitler's ideals are our right, then we have our right to support a similar view that we dont like and will kill you if necessary.

Anywho, comparing the Nazi flag to the confederate flag is like comparing apples to oranges. To start with, having a confederate flag does not necessarily mean you are racist. It just means you are a sympathizer of what used to to be the Confederate States. Instead of giving a history lecture I'll just say this: The confederate flag is more of a symbol of heritage where as the Nazi flag is a symbol of ideology.

Fun fact - it's actually a crime to display a Nazi flag in Germany.

I believe it is because Germany is paranoid that it will go back to its Fascist ways so they take drastic measures to prevent such act from happening. Although a bit to the extreme, I might add. There is a fine line between wanting to keep history from repeating itself and giving the people little say in their endeavors of doing so. This is apparent in other countries in Europe as well such as the central and Scandinavian ones.
