Intrusion of the Monarchs

[ Quick-Play Spell Card]

Reveal any number of "Monarch" monsters in your hand; shuffle them into the Deck, then draw cards equal to the number of cards shuffled into the Deck by this effect +1. While you control no monsters: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; Reveal your hand, then your opponent selects 1 monster with 2400 or more ATK and 1000 DEF in your hand to Special Summon to your side of the field in Defense Position. You can only use this effect of "Intrusion of the Monarchs" once per turn.

@above: Perhaps it'd be best if you get to know the Monarch deck a little more (or really other Decks that can likely abuse it). If you haven't played for a while, you may have missed the new supports (new stuff came out in September 2015).

But in a way, it is pushing a bit in new-age Monarchs; though, can you point out any specific interactions?

----

I have played Monarchs a little bit (zero ED version, mind you), and yeah there have been several instances where I have gotten brick hands with the Monarchs themselves in hand. Getting a Kozmotown-esque thing for them is nice, plus it does alleviate the brick problem a bit and gives you a chance at the support Spells. Also combos well with Dominion; banish this card first, SS whatever Monarch the opponent wants to give you, then trigger Dominion on the Mega Monarch and tribute that monster.

Then again, it's also discard fodder for Pantheism if you haven't drawn Monarchs or whatever supports they want at that time; turn 1: play Pantheism, ditch this and draw 2 cards, then force the opponent to SS something by banishing it, then proceed to Tribute Summon whatever Monarch you want.

The second effect can be abused by Qli (and maybe other Decks) to some extent, but that's only if they discard this or something; looking at them, I don't think they can necessarily run this (maybe just as Twin Twister fodder, but why), but may be wrong about it in the long run.

I think you should put hard OPT on both effects or even restrict to only 1 effect per turn (either you recycle your hand or SS a Monarch of choice; not both), given the implications this can cause.

The 2nd effect is a bit OP imo, but since the last time I played was more tha a year ago.... :/

I think it would be better if it was a Once per duel clause instead of a Once per turn.

Once per duel clauses are usually very inconsistent and poor design.

That's fair, since I'm just trying to make the Deck fun to play more often. I enjoy the Deck, it's just terribly sacky.

Once per duel clauses are usually very inconsistent and poor design.

Then I'll explain my point of view a bit more.

We all know that the meaning of a OPD clause is to reduce significantly the efficience of a card, where an OPT clause would still make it broken. Very often, it works as a self-Limitation. This is a bit useless since there is a ban list for that kind of things. So, it would be useful for the first months, but after that no... we could also wonder why Konami would make cards they know for sure would be Limited (what, they actually do such things ? xD). That's what we can call bad design.

But here, since it is only on 1 of the 2 effects, and because the 1st effect is not bad at all : it would not be such a self-Limitation to add a OPD clause to the 2nd!

[QUICK-PLAY spell]

Your effect :

1 : QA

2 : from grave eff : spé summon from your hand (meaning : spé summon 1 monarch (Kuraz ?), let's tribute him to have a great one ! [well, requires 2 of them, but still...])

1 is the most useful : it's the reason why you would play the card. It makes this card a good QA card (in any deck running some Monarchs) which is rare in YuGiOh. But 1 alone seems okay to me : it requires you to have a Monarch in your Hand, so it does not suit to any bad Hand situation nor any Deck.

2 is not the prime aim of the player... but sh*t it is strong : it's an effect from the Graveyard (well, it resolves while banished but you know what I mean) which is already cool, but furthermore... yay, free summon. OPT clause is almost nothing (considering the fact you're not likely to use it 2 or more times in the same turn [and that if you have 2 Monarchs it's better if you don't Spe Summon the two of them])

A Quick-Play Spell (likely to be x3) with such effects is OP, no matter what.

So you must restrain the use of the 2nd effect. Another option is just to get rid of it.

An OPT is not enough... WHY NOT USE AN OPD ??

Then :

The 1st card is damn useful.

The second is still nice.

The 3rd... well, you're not very likely to play 3 of them in a short duel, and considering the fact you must have Monarchs, it's a bit hard, but it remains not that bad

.

This would make this card well balanced instead of OP as it is right now.

What suggested Sakura Haruno works very well too, but, personnally, I didn't want to restrain the core of the card, which is the 1st effect !

This is why I don't think that was poor design, and I hope you changed your mind (at least a little) about that.
