The Nyx Avatar
Mecha Phantom Beast looked cool; aircrafts with the resemblance of animals. And the Token premise could have worked. If they could initiate plays. So I made this card to initiate plays. Granted, one card probably can't salvage a whole archetype, but here's my attempt:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0Hm79q4M-ULORE:Pay 1000 Life Points. Add to your hand, send to the Graveyard, or Special Summon 1 "Mecha Phantom Beast" monster from your Deck. Monsters Summoned by this card's effect cannot declare an attack. During either player's turn (except during the turn this card was sent), you can banish this card from your Graveyard; activate 1 of the following effects:● Target 1 "Mecha Phantom Beast" monster; it is unaffected by your opponent's card effects this turn.● Target 1 "Mecha Phantom Beast" monster; it gains 800 ATK. Flash Flyer - Sakura
(For the purpose of this review, I'll mention only the MPBs that are commonly used in the Deck [or at least my version]; not all of them are used) This card's first effect alone does pretty much everything MPBs want to do. For what it's worth, you can trigger something like Coltwing after you have a Level 4 out, then spam Tokens to Xyz into whatever. Yeah, you can't attack with them, but most of the time, they'll be going into their ED so that restriction is moot. Searching part is fine if you can't pay the Tribute fodder for Megaraptor, although from experience, I generally haven't gotten this issue because I can usually generate Tokens right away (otherwise there's Gear Gigant X to solve that issue to an extent); it's still useful though. Graveyard one sets up O-lion plays and more Tokens to fuel your plays (SS Token, then banish O-lion to SS from hand and proceed to Xyz/Synchro). As for the banish effect, the ATK boost isn't too much but suppose you can let the smaller 'mons hit harder or for Draco/Jaculuslan to run over bigger bosses in battle. The effect immunity is the selling point though; would be nice to keep your bosses protected from the common removal that sees play (well, mainly Castel and other stuff that doesn't destroy); with Jaculuslan, it'd be good protection for it as unlike Draco, it's vulnerable even with a Token up (no protection). I'll admit that they're still slow on actually getting members out even with this addition, but this is a nice way to get them going for the most part or give them things they need to survive; namely the ability to make Draco fast (or really, any Rank 7 or 10 Xyz they need at the moment). Same goes for the Graveyard effects. Plus, as a neat edition, you could Set this card when Jaculuslan is destroyed. Though, what else does the archetype require?
