Wish me luck with my endoscopy!

Recommended Posts

I have Crohn's disease, a chronic illness where parts of the digestive tract get inflamed. My Crohn's isn't as bad as some people's, but I have been rather ill with it in the past.

Tomorrow I am having an endoscopy to check up on how my intestines are doing.

I thought I'd share this with my friends (you lot) in case you found it interesting.

Did you have to fast because if so then I feel you

Yeah. Just an hour ago, I had the last piece of food that I'm allowed until after the endoscopy, which starts in 25 hours from me posting this. It's not too much of a problem, since it's simply a case of not doing something (eating), which is easy for me because I am lazy.

I remember for my colonoscopy I have to 1. Fast and 2. take 60+ pills throughout the course of the day, which essentially surrender control of my digestive system.

Crohns is not a pushover ;u;

Do you have Crohn's too, if you don't mind me asking?

Good luck in the endoscopy. I hope you get better soon! <3

Well, one camera later, and it turns out my Crohn's is doing well. Elevated calprotectin levels had seemed to indicate a flare-up, but today my brilliant doctor told me that calprotectin isn't a perfect indicator and can be wrong. Wahoo!

Thanks to all the well wishers. I'd be lying if I said that when I was in the depths of camera-agony that I remembered all of the wonderful YCM-love and felt better, but at least you gave me that option. :P
