Reverse Pendulum Energy

[Normal Spell Card]

Target 1 card on a Pendulum Zone: Destroy it, and if you do, you can Special Summon 1 monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, with the same Type, Attribute, and Level as the target, except a Pendulum Monster.

- - - - - - - -

Change up your Scales, destroy opponent Scales, and potentially Summon something in its stead.

Meant as an opposite card to "Pendulum Rising".

Doradragon in Gadgets/Geargias.

Empowered Warriors for Shadow Mist/Neos Alius/Prisma.

Ariadne plays (because of course....)

Among who knows how much else you might be able to bring out.

Thoughts/Opinions/Suggestions welcome.

Lovely card! My favourite interaction is the one you mentioned using Dragong: It is incredibly easy to search (Gear Gigant X, Geargiauger, Ancient Gear Box) so you could easily splash it in a Machine deck, such as roids for summoning Expressroid.

Another one could be destroying Symphonic Warrior Guitaars (after using its effect, of course) for Speedroid Terrortop!

Looks like a really good card. Not only it's easier to set up by picking the target on the Pendulum Zone instead of a Monster Zone unlike similar cards such as its intended opposite Pendulum Rising, or Transmodify, but also it can trigger floater Pendulums as it was already pointed out with Ariadne. And not being able to search Pendulum monsters is IMO a nice way to keep it in check, by practically forcing the player to either tech non-Pendulums as targets in Pendulum decks, or teching this and some Pendulums as an engine in non-Pendulum decks, even better if said deck inherently runs a couple of compatible Pendulums. It truly looks like a card that encourages interesting and clever engines or deck variants.

A concern I have with this card is how it is able to destroy an opponent's Pendulum scale, and thus netting the player slightly more advantage, but still, I think it would be situational for that to happen since the player must have non-Pendulum monsters that match the opponent's Pendulum scale, so it shouldn't be a big issue. Also, because of this, the card could become a thing for mirror matches, in which case it becomes a nice way for rewarding the player for running it, be it as a tech or an engine.

If anything, I would limit the card to Summoning from only the hand or Deck, just so that it has a risk of becoming dead if the deck runs out of targets, or rather encourage, if not require, the player to run more copies of proper targets.

That Terrortop play sounds hilarious xD

Thanks, if follows the idea that Pendulums should be the bridge that supports non-Pendulum themes rather than the end result. That'd incorporate them into the game better, because to be honest, the way it ended up has either Pendulum-based decks or decks that don't use Pendulums at all. It evolved in a way that the swarm they can make is the most important factor on them to make Extra Deck Monsters with, and it's fine but they might have been geared too much on that direction with cards along the way such as Wavering Eyes, Pendulum Sorcerer, Igknights, etc. They pretty much forced backrow removal to evolve.

I have been thinking on this card, and it impresses me how it currently avoids supporting the most used or relevant Pendulums and their engines, lowering this card's chances of becoming a problem. For example:

- Metalfoes are among the most splashable Pendulums, but non-Pendulum maindeck FIRE Psychic monsters don't exist, and thus there are no targets to play with this card.

- Among the few decks that combine Pendulums with non-Pendulums is Metalfoes Yang Zings, but not only Metalfoes won't work with this card as stated above, also the Yang Zing Pendulums are lacking on targets: Zefranui doesn't have one since a non-Pendulum Level6 EARTH Wyrm monster doesn't exist yet, and while Zefraxi can search Bi'an, that wouldn't be an advantageous play.

However, needless to say, this may change in the future, since cards will keep coming and who knows when they will release cards that could take advantage of this card. This is the kind of card that is bound to get better as time progresses.

On the other hand, it supports and encourages the experimentation and creation of other decks or variants.

- While it has a nice synergy with Ariadne, who can then be used to Summon, let's say, Seraph Scepter for extra advantage, without another Level4 LIGHT Fairy Pendulum to pair with Ariadne the play is a situational and unreliable 2-card combo. But this allows experimentation by attempting to complement Ariadne with another Pendulum with its own targets for this card. This is part of what makes this card nice, fun and interesting.

- In addition to the aforementioned play with Guitaars and Terrortop, if you are playing both Symphonic Warrior scales, Miccs got cute targets too in Quickdraw Synchron and sided Spell Canceller, the latter to lock the opponent from playing his/her Spells and Pendulums earlier.

- Majespecters (who just got their Kirin Limited, by the way) could give a try to this card along a Genex engine including Blastfan and a DARK Genex Tuner (namely Birdman) for extended plays.

- Zefratellarknights variants could use this on Zefrathuban to Summon a Tellarknight and activate its effects.

- Both Zefra Ritual Beasts can be used with this card to search for Pilica, opening up the possibility of makeshifting some kind of WIND Synchro deck that could be further supported by Speedroids and the upcoming Wind Witches.

And surely there are other cute uses with this card that have yet to be found.

Being 100% honest with you here, you have by now with this comment thought about this card's implications more than I have xD

I just made sure to glance over the targets so that nothing incredibly broken would happen haha.

In fact I found less targets with advantage plays than I expected, but still enough to post the card ^^"

There's also the play of Ariadne into Bountiful Artemis and search out a Counter Trap, which will soon net you a draw too. Although that sounds much weaker for today's standards. On that same note for that deck you can also search out Honest.
