#crackdownondeviantart

So I was browsing on Deviantart looking for a picture I found. Eventually, I found it, but it was a long search, and along the way I found some, let's just say inappropriate, results. Like, from semi-suggestive to over-the-top innappropriate. There is a Mature Content feature on DA but it's really not enough as so much bad things are exposed even if you have the ones marked mature blocked -- if you are over the age of 18 go browse DA and you will see what I mean sooner or later. (Note: if you are not over 18, do NOT do it. ) But the thing is, the staff at DA need to work on cracking down on this content. The question is, how much? What is in the realm of OK and not OK? How do we do it? etc.

Discuss.

(Mods, if you think the topic itself is not OK for YCM, feel free to lock it.)

(And, lastly, I came up with the hashtag in the title.)

i mean it's not really up to us what is and isn't okay to be on Deviantart, is it? that's for their mods and the people who have accounts with the site to decide, really. like sure if everyone on the internet went and bullied Deviantart into stricter TOS and rules on what is/ isn't acceptable content, but that just doesn't really sit right with me. if it's ok with you, that's you. whatever. i'm sure there are plenty of other people who you could rally with and what not. to me, if the content doesn't hurt anyone, it's whatever..  (and no, that doesn't mean i'm okay with child porn.)

but unless you can specifically point to a form of nsfw thing on deviantart you want gone... it's hard to crack down on that popping up. if it's just nsfw stuff in general being in such quantity.... that's almost impossible. you can't say "alright guys, we've reached our allowance for posting porn, no more of it til tomorrow" or some such, you get me?

No we dont need to crack down on Deviantart. DA does have regulations and if you are at an age that you cant even look at semi-suggestive imagery then maybe you shouldnt be unsupervised on the internet or maybe even on the internet in the first place. As for seeing if its straight up porn and full on nudity being shown with the mature filter on then yes there needs to be something done but other than that I really dont feel why its such a terrible thing that things that arent fully mature arent getting treated as if they were.
