I thought my Shapesnatch Turbo deck could use some support, because Konami is run by a bunch of crazy people who continually powercreep the game. I mean christ, Shapesnatch Turbo is one of the most consistent decks in existence, I can get out my win condition pretty easily, but with how powerful archetypes are now, a Level 5 1200 ATK normal monster just can't compete. It's ridiculous.

Snatchshape

Machine-Type/DARK/Level 5/ATK 1700/DEF 1200

You can Normal Summon this card without Tributing. If this card is Normal Summoned without Tributing, its original ATK and DEF are switched. If this card is Tribute Summoned: You can add 1 "Shapesnatch" or 1 "Snatchshape" from your Deck to your hand. Double the ATK of all "Shapesnatch" you control. Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 "Shapesnatch" from your hand or Graveyard. If this card would be destroyed, you can send 1 "Shapesnatch" from your hand or field to the Graveyard instead.

I imagined it'd end up having some form of Limiter Removal mimic/support.

Its downfall is that it is a semi-nomi, so it cannot stack to ridiculous amounts, and that means it isn't as crazy.

My suggestions are: Make it a Level 4 that can Special Summon "Shapesnatch" from your hand/Graveyard once per turn.

The idea is that you are more likely to create a Rank 5 engine than you are of supporting Shapesnatch if they are both 5.

The attack doubling would be better as a separate OPT effect that can only activate if the card did perform the above Summon. This is with the function of making Inferno Reckless Summon live. At the same time, it'd prevent one thing that is probably worrying you: That you can double them 3 times and get easy four 9600 ATK beaters without Limiter Removal.

I don't think you need the hard OPT clause if you make sure it only Summons a "Shapesnatch" Normal Monster/non-Effect Monster.

Though maybe you do because a simple Double Summon would net you four 4800 ATK monsters in that case.

On the plus side, Alternative Shapesnatch will most of the time have more ATK if you use something like Mausoleum of White to ditch the OG copies. It'd start up with 1700 ATK and then double to 3400. It'd be a pretty decent beating strategy.

Thank you for your suggestions, they all sound great.

Edit: How does this sound:

Shapesnatch Alternative

Machine-Type/DARK/Level 4/ATK 1700/DEF 1200

Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 "Shapesnatch" from your hand or Graveyard. Once per turn: You can double the ATK of all "Shapesnatch" you currently control until the end of this turn. If this card would be destroyed, you can send 1 "Shapesnatch" from your hand or field to the Graveyard instead.

No inherent SS condition, so Double Summon is live, switched the ATK and DEF around to distinguish it from the original, and it'd be able to reach a decent 2.2k with Mausoleum, in exchange it wouldn't have its ATK doubled by its effect, seeing as it would be a bit of overkill. Also gave it a self preservation effect, where it will sacrifice a Shapesnatch to prevent its destruction, so you can possibly SS Shapesnatch again. Though, and this may sound crazy, what if I just had the doubling effect be a continuous effect? Like "Double the ATK of all "Shapesnatch you control".

You know, for flavor you can keep it as a Level 5 plus the ability to Normal Summon it without Tributes. Besides, Rank5 plays with Shapesnatch would be welcomed and hardly broken. And IMO you can go for the continuous ATK-doubling effect: it removes its vulnerability to the activation of the effect being negated, plus it will apply during the opponent's turn as well.

Hmm. Seems Shapesnatch Alternative (The one in the third post) is okay like this. Gets them up to a respectable 3400, has destruction immunity-its the whole deal. Though, I'd though that when you talked of a new type of Shapesnatch, it'd be like the one from Duelists of the Roses, which copied the Deck leader's ATK when attacking, and your Deck Leader's DEF when being attacked. Maybe make it so it copies LP instead. Or something to fuel along its only other featured card, Release Lease-have it Tribute the opponent's monsters to add Level 3 monsters to your hand.

But this works too.

Keep it up, leaf!
