Arimetal
I just wanna make a discussion thread on the uses of current Draw Engines as they have changed over the years (e.g. Destiny Draw Engine) How has the prevalent draw engines changed over the years? What are some down sides to the current draw engines many of us use?
ÆƵ–
Well the newest engine being used is spellbooks, iirc, and I believe that that's a 4-5 card engine? Being 2 blueboy, 1 secret, 2 rudra or something like that. The problem with that one is that it eats your normal, which some decks can't afford to lose in exchange for a draw. Desires is kinda an engine. A +1 on tge condition that some of your combo options are.gonna be lost isn't the worst thing for decks that can manage it, but casual decks and ones that rely on specific combos can't use it. Having wonder wand in blue-eyes was a thing, I believe. Target maiden for a free blue-eyes and draw 2, making it a +1 all together. Those are the engines I can think of off the top of my head. (GigaDrillBreaker)
Though not a draw engine itself, toon table is an advantage engine for Magibullets, allowing them to extend plays. Draw engines themselves are becoming less and less common in favor of these advantage engines, as a guaranteed payout tends to be worth more than a potentially more powerful random chance. Zoodiac and True King engines are an example of this, enabling various decks to plus, while also giving the potential for easy to summon bosses, like Drident, VFD, and Dinomight Knight. As for card draw itself, the use of photon thrasher in ABC comes to mind. You can run up to 4 copies of it, and it gives the deck easy access to Tsuk. Not only does tsuk draw cards, her discard makes it easier for the deck to load up the grave to summon its boss.

Darj
Stuff like Trade-In and Allure of Darkness are AFAIK still good picks for decks that can run it, while Spellbook of Rudra/Knowledge is in a way the next generation of a draw engine, so they are still evolving along the game and retain some relevance. At the same time, draw power is shifting into actual pluses than +0s and break-evens, as mentioned above with Pot of Desires, and I would add Cards of Demise too. So I would say the game is shifting from draw engines to draw power single cards.
