Neos Zone [Written]

So based on the other thread at this page, I decided to give it a try on making some support for good old Neos cards.

Neos Zone

[Field Spell]

Unaffected by the effect of "Neos" cards. If a "Neos" Fusion leaves the field by its own effect: Special Summon 1 "Elemental HERO Neos" from your hand, Deck, or GY, and if you do, add 1 "Neo Spacian" monster in the Fusion's card text from your Deck or GY to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Neos Zone" once per turn. Once per turn, you can do 1 of these:

-If you Summon a "Neo Spacian" monster: You can Special Summon 1 "HERO" monster from your hand, Deck, or GY, with the same Attribute as the Summoned "Neo Spacian".

-If you Summon a "HERO" monster(s): You can Special Summon 1 "Neo Spacian" monster from your hand, Deck, or GY, with the same Attribute as the Summoned "HERO" monster.

-It won't get destroyed by Storm Neos.

-It doesn't prevent Neos Fusions from dissolving, but since that is part of their flavor anyways, instead I made it so that you get the materials back, with the bulky one on the field and the lighter one on the hand.

-Neo Spacians now actually support HEROes, and old school ones at that. Air Hummingbird will give you Avian, Grand Mole will give you most HEROes out there, Black Panther will give you Destiny HERO access (which balances it out against the other Neo Spacians because it is one of the least used ones), and Glow Moss will actually give you access to the most key cards (Neos himself, Prisma, or Allius if you feel like giving a shot to the Gemini old school play with Spark).

It doesn't solve the problems interacting with Evil HERO monsters, Winged Kuriboh and other rando's that Jaden used in duels, so it doesn't solve all synergy problems it could. Plus, there's still the issue of Extra Monster Zones being a thing now. I'd even try and give support to Crysallys if I could, but a single card can't do it all I suppose xD

Idk if the HERO support is necessary, but this is probably the best example of a good Neos Field Spell I've seen.

Couple recommendations:

  • I would make both the effects OPT, by making it say at the end "You can only use each effect of this card once per turn."
  • I think the 2nd effect should say to Special Summon a Neo-Spacian rather than a HERO, since it makes Summoning monsters like Storm and Magma Neos much more consistent.

Other than that you're golden. I've been personally trying to fiddle with Neo-Spacians, and all I could come up with is retraining the entire archetype.

I like this card a lot, and I dare to say is the best Neos support I have seen so far.

First, it returns what your investment on the Neos Contact Fusions after they spin themselves, and this is IMO what they need the most to keep their advantage and field presence going. Then along Neo-Spacians it is practically a engine that generates monsters for you to follow up with not only Contact Fusions, also Link Summons, or fodder for omni-HERO Fusions, etc. and this is such an amazing way of making use of the Neo Spacians, whose effects range from bad to decent. Being able to Summon the Neo Spacian from the 3 locations allows you to keep this "engine" compact too, which is great!

I find amusing how this card makes Glow Moss so valuable, since Summoning Neos, or even Neos Alius and the "Gemini Summoning it" sets up for a Neos Contact Fusion right away. Masked HEROes may also have some fun with Dark Panther and Dolphin; for instance, Bubbleman + Dolphin opens up for Mastar Boy, and then they can follow up with their previously standard Dark Law + Rank4, or maybe a Toadally Bahamut play.

Might as well say this in a post rather than just the OP but:

I've actually been updating the card. Since I was suggested to make HERO Summons call onto the Neo Spacians instead of the other way around, I flip flopped it for a bit, which confuses me a little bit because your comment happened post the edit and seems to read the original version of the effect.

Though as of right now, the card has both effects to choose either of them, but not both in the same turn..... I'll see how that turns out...

I read the version that Summoned a Neo Spacian when a HERO was Summoned, which IMO was a better call than the other way around since HEROes have more Special Summon support than Neo Spacians (e.g. Bubbleman, Hero Lies), which otherwise would take your Normal Summon. But having both makes it more flexible, and that's welcomed. For instance, now a drawn Dark Panther can let you Special Summon Shadow Mist and get the "-Change" Quick-Play Spell search.
