Eshai Posted September 6, 2017 Report Share Posted September 6, 2017 I get where you're coming from, but Penguins are typically a rank 4 Deck that goes into Bahamut Shark to go into Toadally Awesome, which means you're competing with Toadally Awesome or you want this card to be used in Rank 2 Decks that aren't Penguins, for some reason. For starters, I would have the Quick Effect involve Penguins and not Materials, since Bahamut doesn't give the card materials.Second, the recovery effect could be made better. especially when all it does is Special Summon a Penguin from your hand.You could probably make the card so the 2 effects play off of each other a bit better, which would be nice for Penguins.Example of an edited version: Penguin Chevalier/PaladinWATER - Rank 2 - Aqua/Xyz/Effect - 1500 ATK/ 1000 DEF2 Level 2 monstersOnce per turn, you can target 1 WATER monster you control and 1 monster your opponent control (Quick Effect): Return them to the hand.Once per Damage Step, when a "Penguin" monster you control battles: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; that monster gains 1000 ATK until the end of the turn.When this card leaves the field: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Penguin" monster from your hand or Deck. Though I'm gonna add that I'd rather it played into the Penguin theme a little more.My experience with Penguins is that they are a rather old school FLIP theme, so instead of trying to bounce the cards your other Penguins should be bouncing off, it should aid them flip up/down better. Something like, say, turn an opponent's effect into an effect that'd let you FLIP down a Penguin (OPT of course), and have its floating effect set a Penguin from the GY.Let Penguin Soldier and Nightmare Penguin do the rest. Though, I don't think this should be competing with Bahamut Shark and/or Toadally at all. I think it'd be better off as a Link. Baby Penguin, Penguin Soldier, Nopenguin, Nightmare Penguin, and Emperor Penguin, are Levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 respectively, so they couldn't be farther away from an Xyz theme, or a Synchro theme. It could also technically work as a Fusion (a contact one even), but nothing like the chance of opening up arrows that can use Bahamut and Toadally in conjunction IMO. To adapt the bouncing effect, instead of detaching to bounce the monster, it could require a monster Linked to it; focusing on flipping as Sleepy suggest is an appealing idea too but the bounce works better for Nopenguin. Hmm... how about doing both by bouncing an opponent's card and flipping face-down a monster linked to it as "cost"?The float effect can be improved, too; Summoning a Penguin from GY or even Deck doesn't sound that bad, especially when Emperor Penguin is a thing.
