Disscussion: Self-Destruct Button

Recommended Posts

Pointless in my opinion. Not even worth trying to run. Everyone's talking about using it as a last resort and all' date=' but your opponent still has to have 7000 LPs more than you. If your opponent has 7000 LPs or less, you can't even activate the card.

Besides, if your opponent has 7000 LPs more than you, you deserve to lose.

[/quote']

your argument could have logic... unless you make an entire deck about this card to make time... in fact is stupidly easy to have a difference of 7000 life points between you and your opponent...

Its a fun card for a MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction [i think thats what it means anyway...]) tactic. Very fun :). What would be funny is if you set it, but then you started winning. After you take their life points down to 1000, while you're at a cool 8000, they use "Reverse of Reverse" (odds of it happening: 0.000000001%, not helped by the fact that outside the anime, the card doesn't exist)

If you chain this to Poison of the Old Man/Dian Keto' date=' then don't you win?

Button Resolves: All LP = 0 ->

Poison Resolves: Your LP = 1200 ->

Opponent loses. <- amirite?

[/quote']

No. Nothing resolves after LP hits zero. Ever. The game ends right there, mid-chain.

Q4T

That's it in a nutshell.

Same with exodia. Your opponent uses Card destruction, you chain Reckless Greed and get the last piece, card destruction doesn't resolve and you win.

"But it's not fiar! Card destruction will discard exodia, then I win!"

Lol that happened to me once...

Thats not entirely true. There is a ruling that states during the last four moves of a match that the chain must resolve fully. So if you were a genuis and drew the match out for 40 minutes up until the very last four turns than yes, legaly, you will win the match. Need a source?

End-of-Match Procedure

When time is called at the end of a round, the current turn of each game that’s still in progress is completed. If a winner is not determined by the end of that turn, play will continue for an additional three turns, starting the count with the opponent’s turn. After the additional three turns, play will stop, and the Match winner will be determined by the following process:

• If a winner has not been determined by the end of the additional three turns, the player with the greater Life Point total wins the game. If both players’ Life Points are equal, play continues until the first change in Life Points, at which point the player with the higher Life Point total is the winner. Always resolve all effects that are already on the chain before comparing the players’ Life Points.

After the winner of the game in progress has been determined, a player wins the Match if he or she has more game wins than the opponent. If both players have an equal number of game wins, they will start a new game. This game will last for a maximum of four turns, two for each player. Side Decks may not be used before starting this game. At the end of the fourth turn, the player with the greatest Life Point total wins the Match. If the Life Point totals are equal, continue play until the first change in Life Points. Always resolve all effects that are already on the chain before comparing the players’ Life Points.

dude, those applies when is time over and they're counting the last 4 turns to decide a winner, that don't count on normal dueling...

so it's easy to stacks with self-destruct button, then using burn spell cards on the time over cout...

That won't work. You can only activate the effect once in his standbye phase, even though it doesn't state that. This is because it has to be activated at a certain time, and not during your Main Phase.

It doesn't say anywhere on the card that there's a once per turn limit, and upperdeck / wikia / netrep didn't have any rulings on any limitations, and there were no erratas.

ooc: lol, that would be epic

Solemn on a RftDD and then I used Wall. This was today. He managed to counter Self-Destruct. I was like

"YOU SON OF A "

But is there a way around Solemn? Can you Solemn another one?
