Raelen
we'll be able to make that law when we've learned how to achieve immortality ...And that will happen when? It's still stupid to say, "Oh no, this man died! He broke the law!"Are you put on the most wanted list if you die illegally?Hmm....
ragnarok1945
Achieving immortality is one thing. Getting that power is quite another. You should know people don't like to share power
Raelen
I'd like to know how to get that power. Besides in heaven, I mean.
ragnarok1945
you know this is another reason why a minority of people suicide: to see if the afterlife truly exists or not
Raelen
you know this is another reason why a minority of people suicide: to see if the afterlife truly exists or not No. I highly doubt that. The people who don't believe in life after death, wouldn't try it. People who believe in life after death, know that God put them there for a reason. Unless they're not Christian. No, not at all likely.
ragnarok1945
well everyone knows life is precious. Even in warfare where you're clearly going on a suicide mission, you still hope to survive, even if you're 100% sure there's the next world waiting for you on the other side

ragnarok1945
I hope you know even for Kamikaze pilots, around 1/3 of them crashed either into the ocean or just find the first thing they could crash into just to end the misery. Raelen
But still, many felt extremely connected to their country. Some of them would, naturally, shy away from certain death.
ragnarok1945
yeah yeah I know. An honor to die for your country. Still, even the suicide bombers have their resenting moments of such a mission

Still' date=' even the suicide bombers have their resenting moments of such a mission[/quote'] Yes, but they're doing it for they're religion. They believe in they're mission more than most people, and they think that they will be rewarded in the afterlife by their actions.
ragnarok1945
that's the difference with Kamikaze pilots. While many are still drilled to believe in victory at the end, just as many know that's not possible anymore. What kept them going is because all of them felt their sacrifice will not be in vain regardless of what they believe
Raelen
I think that would be an awful way to die. Die doing something wrong that you think is right, and hope to be repayed in the afterlife, and wind up being completely wrong.
ragnarok1945
yeah but you're not going to know you were wrong. But you're right, if you could actually see that sacrifice accomplished nothing, that would be even worse
Raelen
If only they could see what would happen afterwards as a consequence. They wouldn't do it if they found out about the negative side effects.

Raelen
Well, the really evil ones would want to live longer so they could kill more people.

ragnarok1945
*shrugs* there can be some twisted thinkers out in the world these days. Now, as for the people who just want to watch the world burn, that you're right about
