The_Prince_of_Death Posted August 28, 2008 Report Share Posted August 28, 2008 Dialga is stronger, I battled with mine and palkia kept losing in one hit, first I used the same stats second I used was palkia with the highest stats I could get at lvl 100 and my only dialga with the normal stats it has at lvl 100, and palkia still lost. Hmm...Dialga is a steel/dragon.Palkia is a water/dragon.Steel and Dragon have immense defenses so +1 to DialgaWater doesn't do squat to steel OR dragon so -1 to PalkiaSteel has a stronger base attack than water so +1 to Dialga and -1 to PalkiaFinal count: Dialga +2 **** Palkia -2Well, thanks for playing guys.See you again soon! Zexaeon Posted August 29, 2008 Report Share Posted August 29, 2008 Palkia doesn't need defense to beat Dialga - all he needs is Speed and Power, which he has plenty of. Dialga is better defensively, Palkia is better offensively. Water can't harm Dragon very easily (though Steel is neutral to it), but Dragon can harm Dragon, and considering Palkia will be moving before Dialga does, using one of his mighty dragon-type techniques, you can bet that Dialga will be in for a world of hurt, especially considering Palkia will either be handling a Life Orb or Lustrous Orb. Now lets add in Rain Support from Kyogre, which will most likely be the situation in any competitive Uber battle. Surf's base power is 95. It gets STAB from Palkia, raising it to 142.5 base power. It gets STAB from Rain, raising it now to 313.75, then receives x1.3 from Life Orb (the more popular choice of item for Palkia), now raising it to 407.875, then, due to Dialga's 2x resistance, it is halved to 203.9375 (rounded down to 203). Now we apply Palkia's Sp.Atk to it and apply it against Dialga's Sp.Def, run through our battle calculations (which I will not go in-depth with, as I've already gone over enough numbers), and, assuming Palkia has maxed Sp.Atk (without EVs) and Dialga has maxed Sp.Def (without EVs), Surf, even with resistance applied, will do an average of 156 damage, more than a third of Dialga's max HP. And all that from a move Dialga is resistant to. Using Spacial Rend will hit with an average of 219, and Draco Meteor hits with an average of 305 (almost ALL of Dialga's health).
