The thing that happened in 2000 was that a lot of the machines in the world didn't have the year 2000 in their systems. People didn't know what would happen, so people started to panic. As you can see, everything turned out fine. I don't think that was about the end of the world.
ragnarok1945
it wasn't, but even if the machines didn't know how to respond, it's still just reprogramming them to make them respond, it's not that hard

Arekku_Koro
Nastrodamus, you may see the world ending in 2012, but do you see why kids love the rich taste of cinnamon toast crunch? "Becuase the stars are aligned?" No! Becuase of the rich cinnamony swirls in every bite!

That's when he'll raise the dead and pass the final judgement of whom will share the Lord's kingdom and who will be punished for their sins. Thats why I said there was nothing in the Bible about the end of the world (just a bunch of people saying there's a 'Code.' I don't know how they work it out) Just to clear it up. Holy Babylon
Nostradamus was a prophet with a rediculous coincidence. The Mayans couldn't have had a billion digits on their clock, plus they didn't even say that would happen, they said it would be an alignment of the planets. My Fan-Fic "I Kissed a Girl and I Liked It" explains what will really happen on that day. Plus:1. If there was a meteor or asteroid coming towards us right now we would see it.2. If it came to us, I kinda figure we would put a warhead on an Atlas rocket or something and blast it off into space. Of course they wouldn't hit the meteor itself, because nuclear-charged rocks would fall to Earth. We would hit it shortly before it got to impact point in order to blow it away in the opposite direction.3. The world's entire nuclear stockpile is enough to turn that rock into space dust. By the way, 2012 isn't a religious thing, it's based off of a false prophet who made up one big coincidence. The book of Revelation was some psycho's dream, in fact, many in the Catholic Church have ruled it out as a psycho's crazy journal of all his nightmares. Anywho, if 2012 is true, I'm telling you right now, go see the movie "Top Gun" before you die, it rules.

Please, most countries didn't begin to talk about that problem until the closing months of 1999. Metal Lord
^ I read a report. The millenium bug WAS a major threat and would have had us eating bears and living in caves. If it is going to happen, on english TV channel 4 at 10pm theres a program 'Can you eat an elephant?' Need to get prepared, people.

El Beasto Perezoso
Meh, there's been a lot of times people said the world end (i.e. 6/6/06), but none of them ever happened.
