People do that all the time. I've done that before, as well, although I rarely play on WiFi so I really just take a team and dick around with the movesets and some EV spreads. If you see a good team, it's not morally wrong to take that team for yourself, as long as you don't claim you made it yourself.

I've been thinking about this for a good while now, and I think It needs, something, I don't know what, but I think I might drop something THAT ISN'T MR. ICECREAMCONEGUYDUDE.

I got a Deino with 21 Sp.Atk IV's (It has Timid nature w/Alert to Sounds).

Even though I would prefer not to start over again, should I? Or can it work with only 21 Sp.Atk IV's?

If it has a 31 Speed IV, don't bother starting over. 21 SpA IVs are more than enough to run with, and it won't mean huge differences in damage. There are very few scenarios where the extra 10 stat points will come in handy, and those scenarios are situational are best.

Ok, I finished my team, except my Dragonite lacks multiscale *the dream world wasn't up ;-;*

Also, I decided to base some of them off of Touhou Characters *don't judge me* and other various stuff.

It depends on what your team needs.

jabroni stole mah post

ChoiceMence is really only used if... no, it really is never used. CB Mence is just lulzy in General because of all the things that sit above 100 (101, 108, all this random crap), and ScarfMence is just... weird. I've never used a ScarfMence, so I don't know how useful it is. If you want a mid-game to late-game sweeper, use DD Mence, otherwise stick with MixMence. Those were the two defining sets of Mence in Gen IV, and I assume much hasn't changed in the transition to Gen V.

That being said, however, use SpecsMence. It shows you have balls.

I got a Gyarados with max attack IV's and 25 speed IV's (It has Adamant nature w/Likes to Thrash About), but horrible defense IV's, which is 5. ._.

I plan on running a Dragon Dance set, so should I try again and aim for better defense IV's, or can Intimidate compensate for the lack of defense?

Is my Chandelure any good?

609.png

Ability

Shadow Tag - Shadow Tag prevents the foe from switching out. (Baton Pass still works I think)

Item

Undecided, maybe Focus Slash - If the holder has full HP and is hit by an attack that would otherwise cause fainting, it can survive with 1 HP.

Attacks

- Will-o-Wisp - Will-O-Wisp inflicts a burn on the target. It has no effect on Fire-type Pokémon.

- Memento? - Memento causes the user to faint but lowers the Attack and Special Attack stat of the target by two stages each.

- Night Shade? - Night Shade inflicts damage equal to the user's level. (Will play level 100) Hits Psychics but not Normals (I think),

- Heat Wave - Heat Wave inflicts damage and has a 10% chance of burning the target. Heat Wave hits all other opposing Pokémon in double and triple battles.

The reason why I have Memento in their is to weaken sweepers before Chandelure dies, although most sweepers are faster than Chandelure so I'm not sure about this move.

Question marks mean I'm slightly doubting these moves and thinking of a replacement.

EDIT: Almost forgot EV distribution.

EVs 248 Spd 252 SAtk 8 HP

Timid Nature

BTW, if you could tell, I am new to Competitive Pokemon.

Unless I read Night Shade wrong, doesn't it do more damage?

Wait, when it means damage, is it referring to Base Damage, or Actual Damage?

No. It's damage is your level. So LV 100 does 100 damage. Shadow Balls damage changes based on stats and effectiveness.

Over all, Chandelure set is bad. Aside from the already mentioned Shadow Ball, your Chan is a sweeper, so Memento is horrible to use (it's a bad move in general) your only focus should be killing, not lowering stats. Not only that, but they can just switch out to get rid of the drop. Overheat is better then Heat Wave since it's a hit and run pokemon anyway. Wisp is best on defensive pokemon, something Chan is not. The standard set for him is this

Item: Choice Scarf

EVs: SPE 252 SpATK 252

Moves: Energy Ball, Overheat, Shadow Ball, Hidden Power/Trick

Depending on what the pokemon is doing EVs can be really simple. For sweepers max SPE and main attack stat, Walls max HP and main defensive stat, for tanks max HP and main attacking. Side from Rotom your team should be able to follow this general rule.

i was in wellspring cave and a dust cloud came up with an oval stone, is that normal, because i was expecting Drillbur (BTW this is pre-nat. dex)

Yea. While Drillbur is common you can find various stones in them too.

From my understanding of pokemon stats the priority for defensive pokemon is always HP. The defensive stats come next. IMO you'll want to focus on Buggy's DEF and Wash's SpDEF.

It's a waste to do anthing with Leafon's HP. It's defensives are crappy at best so you'll still die just as fast.

Arceus. Deoxys-S.

The highest speed stat non-legendary is Ninjask according to Bulbapedia. It can learn X-Scissor, Solarbeam, Baton Pass and some other moves I might like. Other than that It's movepool is awful. Is it worth putting in my team as the first pokemon(Raise evade, then baton pass to my attacker? Is that viable?)
