This tournament is, in YCM history, what could be the biggest Pokémon D/P Wi-Fi Tournament ever!! In the wake of the new “Pokémon Platinum” we can celebrate its arrival with the most Pokemon battling we’ve seen in a while.

To enter please fill in the following form:

[spoiler=Tournament Entrance Form]

YCM Username: FelixTheCat

Pokemon D/P Character Name: Felix

Pokemon D/P Friend Code: 4769 0401 0816

GMT: GMT +0

To enter please pay 20 Points, this is in no way to promote profit, as all money paid will be put into the tournament Prize Money. I myself will be shipping in 1000 of my own points for the overall winnings.

The aim for the tournament is to have a total number of entrants that can be divisible by 2 until we get to 1, in so doing we have a tournament where everyone should battle the same number of times. (I’m hoping for at least 16 people so it should be pretty big)

Here is the list of entrants along with their in-game name, FC and Time Zone.

If you think that you won’t do well because of your lack of level 100 Pokemon then fear not, all battles will be on the level 100 option meaning all Pokemon, regardless of previous level, will automatically be bumped up to level 100 status.

[spoiler=Rules]

[spoiler=Why?… It’s a good read, knock yourself out]

Ubers by FelixTheCat

Mewtwo

Total base stats hitting 680, this is one mean Pokémon, with an impressive movepool to boost. Not much will outspeed it, let alone a "counter" outspeeding it, and being able to damage it without being OHKO’d. With an insane movepool, this is one deadly beast. Many refer to Mewtwo as the ultimate Sweeper.

Mew

Mew's base stats "only" hit 600, but what it lacks in punch, it more than makes up for in terms of a movepool. Many of the "special" 600 BST Pokémon are NOT banned, Mew is for one simple reason - movesets. Even some of the deadlier standard Pokémon can be taken down with some common sense prediction, i.e. which moves it is using from its limited movepool? But how can you predict when your opponent can learn *almost* everything?

Wobbuffet

Many people shake their heads in disbelief at this one. Why is a 415 BST Pokémon on the Uber list? Decent HP and Mirror Coat and Counter allows it to be extremely difficult to kill in a single blow, and with it's decent HP, could reflect the damage back at you for a certain kill. Encore can trap you a move for up to 5 turns. Your opponent would then LOL as it switches to something else and sets up on you. Safeguard means that your attempts to status it will be null and void. Shadow Tag as well means you can't switch, simple as.

Now all of these individually are not that big a deal, as many Pokémon have the potential to perform these feats, but not all together at the same freakin’ time.

Shadow Tag also used to create the potential of a Wob v Wob showdown, but Shadow Tag has been changed so that other Shadow Taggers can escape each other. This blue blob is still a doozy.

Lugia

Lugia's base stats hit 680, like Mewtwo, and in some respects, Lugia is like a reverse Mewtwo. It is more defensive, whilst our Genetic friend is definitely more aggressive, albeit with a few extra weaknesses. However with the ability to recover that damage and boost its stats further, and possessing an impressive array of moves, Lugia is simply too cool for school, as they say, with the ability to wall almost anything.

Ho-oh

Famous for making in appearance in the anime, right in #1, before it was even named or featured in a video game, the advent of an even more aggressive metagame, in which the fire type is hindered further remains to be seen where Ho-oh will end up. Like its metallic twin, it possesses a 680 base stat total, and is more attack orientated than its psychic type counterpart. Despite losing 50% to stealth rock, it has a nasty movepool and enough attack power to say that if it switches in, despite being severely molested, it can set up and own, as well as being able to recover from those rocks. Very deadly and despite the ease in which it can be countered, it can still wipe out an entire team.

Latios

Many people think that Latios is acceptable WITHOUT the broken Soul Dew. First things first, Soul Dew is not as broken as it was in advance. Latias is more defensive, and the Soul Dew will boost her Special Defense whilst Latios is more offensive, and therefore the Soul Dew will boost his Special Attack. But could be considerd Uber without it. Both have a BST of 600, but with the important stats carrying the power, the two have some serious resistances and don't have the common 4x Ice weakness that plagues their Dragon cousins. Throw in an impressive movepool, the ability to use Recover to heal themselves and boost their already 1337 special capabilities, and you have some monsters that you wouldn't want to face. Latios also has the option of attacking on the physical side, with Dragon Dance and a higher attack stat. Latias however since testing has been found acceptable in a Standard eviroment even if there is a risk of it becoming more OU than Blissey.

Kyogre

Kyogre is a true beast, among Ubers. A trait that would make Tyranitar cry and even admit defeat, with a stat total hitting 680, and a movepool to hurt many types, a true beast to be feared. It couldn’t care less about the advantage it gives to the Electric types switching in, because with their general poor defensive stats, they will surely get hurt by powered up Water moves. Let alone the powerful Super Effective moves it learns as well as the fact that Grass and Electric types are rare in Ubers. Generally difficult to kill, especially on the special side, this monster will truly wash you away.

Groudon

Kyogre's nemesis. This was meant to be a fire type, but instead, they give it a type that has better resistances, but has a movepool that allows it to pretend that it is. It can run a few roles in the Uber metagame; sweeper, supportive, wall, you never know what to expect from it. Also gives help to other Pokemon in the metagame, as a Chlorophyll boost can just be what your Exeggutor waiting in the wings needs to outspeed and destroy your opponent’s team.

Rayquaza

Anyone who has been on the receiving end of a mauling by a Salamence will know the pain when you imagine a stronger version of it, with an even better movepool and 80 extra stats. Sure it might be slightly slower, but what it loses in pace it makes up for in punch and most Salamence sets Dragon Dance anyway so wouldn't utilize the natural Speed. It is only one of 2 Pokemon that can Dragon Dance and Outrage, reason enough to ban it with 150 base attack. A truly fearsome beast that couldn’t care less if you had a Pokemon with STAB Ice Beam on it if holding a Yache berry or a Focus Sash. You'd better hope it kills it in one hit.

Deoxys (All Forms)

All 4 versions of Deoxys can be used and obtained in DP. All 4 have a 600 base stat total. Yet only 3 are Uber. Sharing the same insane movepool, the standard version is an offensive monster with limited defensive capabilities, but will seriously maim, if not kill almost any Pokémon it faces. The attacking monster has less defensive capabilities, it will likely fall to any attack, but will outspeed you more likely than not, and almost certainly end your Pokémon's role in that battle with extreme speed and attacking stats. The defensive version will not be going anywhere, and will likely Pressure stall you to death, whilst it lols at you and dusts off the damage with impressive defenses and recover, as well as setting up entry hazards which make switching in hard. The speed version was to be considered as OU, but after the popularity of the “Dual Screen” Deoxys-s, everyone was forced to have a very fast Taunter and games often balanced on the speed tie, i.e. whose Taunt went first. This made for a unanimous decision for it being Uber.

Garchomp

Garchomp is the newest Pokémon to enter the Uber realm, after terrorizing the OU metagame for many moons. With an attack stat almost reaching 400, bulk that rival’s Swampert and annoyingly enough speed to outspeed the base 105’s, Garchomp is a monster. The Swords Dance set (especially with a Yache Berry) was almost impossible to stop with one Pokemon, as one would break the Yache, while the other killed it. 1/3 of your team needed to bring down the Land Shark. Choice Scarf can outrun and kill with a speed that approaches 450. It can also run mixed, with the “ChainChomp” set, and have 28% chance to miss with the SubPowder set in Sandstorm. This is one shark that Jaws would have avoided.

Dialga

Dialga has a superb type combination, good movepool and a 680 base stat total, which is almost certain exclusion in itself. It can do all sorts of roles as well, with Bulk Up, Restalk, Trick Room Sweeper, and ordinary sweeper as well.

Palkia

Palkia has only one weakness, but is common in the Uber metagame. However, a 680 base stat total and just as useful a movepool, but not the defensive capabilities to support, but can sweep easier with better speed and Attack stat for the pink whore of special walling (Blissey).

Giratina

Giratina has a unique typing, the same 680 BST and a healthy mix of good moves. However, like Palkia, Giratina can only do one thing, but boy is it good at it. Stalling. With 150 Hp and Will-o-wisp, it can completely shut down physical attackers, while can EV it’s 120 SDef to take Special hits better as well.

Darkrai

Darkrai stupidly fast and has an 80% accuracy sleep move as well as a trait that eats at opponents HP if they are asleep, it can completely shut down any Restalk strategies. This is not the only thing it can do, as it can sweep with 135 base SAtk and Calm Mind AND NASTY PLOT!! This thing is the meaning of Broken. Oh and Focus Punch for Blissey off a decent, but not great Atk stat.

Arceus

Arceus… With base 720 Stats, the highest EVER made, and a movepool that is almost as big as Smeargle, this God Pokemon can do nearly everything in existence, and can do it well. As well as being generalized, it can also be used to counter specific threats, as it can be any type it likes, with a special 100 power STAB move no matter what. One of the more dangerous ones is the SD Extreme Speed physical attacker, which can only be countered 100% by Giratina but only if Arceus doesn’t have Night Slash (which it will… to counter Giratina). When it was revealed, many joked that it should be in a tier of its own. Forget what I said about Darkrai, this thing is the Pokemon equivalent of Black Luster Soldier – EOTB.

Clauses

Clauses are the does and don’t of Pokemon and help to regulate a battle so it doesn’t become a free for all to see who can Sleep all your opponent’s Pokemon the fastest.

[spoiler=Active Clauses During the Tournament]

Evasion Clause

You and your opponent can not use evasion-increasing moves like double team and minimize.

Legit/legal Clause

None of the Pokemon can have illegal movesets, 999 in all stats, 255 EVs in all stats, or have been caught in places that they normally wouldn't have been caught at. An example of an illegal moveset would be would be a Magnezone with Flamethrower or Salamence with Ice Beam.

OHKO Clause

You and your opponent can not use moves that cause instant one-hit knockouts. Some examples would be sheer cold, fissure, Horn Drill and Guillotine.

Sleep Clause

Only one Pokemon can be put to sleep on each team. The only time you can use another sleep move is when the sleeping Pokemon either wakes up or faints, then your opponent can use a sleep move again. The move Rest does not count toward Sleep Clause, so if your opponent were to put a Pokemon asleep because of Rest, you can still use a sleep-inducing move on your opponent.

Species Clause

You and your opponent can not use more then one of the same Pokemon. This means that you or your opponent can not use two Infernapes or Garchomps or two of the same Pokemon in general.

Luck Items Clause

You and your opponent can not use Items that rely on luck to be activated. Some examples are Focus Band, Bright Powder, and Quick claw.

Soul Dew Clause

Can't use Soul Dew, nuff said.

If your opponent breaks any of these rules you have immediate permission to d/c (turn off your DS). Depending on the situation, the rule breaker can be disqualified or let off with a warning. If the latter occurs then the battle will have to be replayed in order to determine the victor. You can either start the battle from scratch or try and replay the battle using the same moves up until the rule-breaking event occurred.

[spoiler=How the Battles will be Organized]

The official times for each round of battles will be every weekend starting with the first week where exhibition matches are allowed to take place. The exhibition matches will take place when we have a minimum number of members around the 32 mark. For those of you who don’t know an “exhibition match” is just a match for fun and will not count towards you placing in the tournament but it will allow your competitors to see who to look out for. However if by chance you are unable to attend at any particular weekend you still have Monday to Friday to have your battle and the same week to prepare for your next one.

Feel free to battle anyone you want during the weeks but you cannot battle your set tournament opponent unless it counts as the official battle for the tournament. After the official battle you may battle them as many times as you want but the first is the only one that will count towards the tournament.

After any battle you had with a tournament participant PM me the results and also post the results and a quick description of how the battle went on this thread. Only one person out of your battle should post this description so decide who will do it (preferably the one with the best grammar/spelling.

Please try and organize the times of your battles with your opponent using the YCM PM system and not through me. So long as you get the battle over and done with we’ll be peachy keen but if not you’ll be holding everyone up and in that situation –Reps would not be out of place.

Please try and keep discussion on this thread to a minimum, any discussion/questions that wish to be initiated/asked should be posted on *click* The Help Desk *click*.

Prizes

Ah the prizes bet you guys were looking forward to finding out what these are. Don’t worry you won’t regret it reading the whole thing (which you won’t have done because you’re not obsessed.)

1st Place:

~ The title of “The True Poké God”

~ 3 reps and 7/10 of the total points donated

~ They will also win a SD, Extreme Speed, ARCEUS!!!, oh yeah and max PP ups, trained by me FelixTheCat!!!

[spoiler=Arceus Run Down]

Name: ARCEUS

Stats: Hp 443 / Atk 372 / Def 270 / SpA 226 / SpD / Spe 277

OT: HUNTER (this guy had it originally but I trained it)

Item: Silk Scarf

~ Swords Dance

~ Extreme Speed

~ Earthquake

~ Shadow Claw

Blurb (ripped from Smogon)

Of the many options Arceus has, this set is perhaps one of the most fearsome that exist. With Arceus's bulkiness, it should have no problem finding a niche for one Swords Dance, and maybe even two or three. Because it doesn't particularly care about paralysis from Thunder as Extreme Speed's priority advantage nullifies the Speed loss (in fact, it is arguably beneficial for this flavor of Arceus to be paralyzed because then it can't be burned and have its attacking ability reduced), one may switch this Arceus on weak attackers such as Blissey with impunity. After even a single Swords Dance, ExtremeSpeed will OHKO all Darkrai, Palkia and Latias unless they invest significantly in Defense, and has a considerable chance of OHKOing the standard 40 HP EVs Mewtwo, assuming that one has at least a Silk Scarf boost. Earthquake smashes Dialga and Metagross into the ground without question. For the last move, Shadow Claw is the preferred choice since it lands super effective hits on the Uber physical walls of Lugia and Giratina.

While this set often rips through half a team or more, it is often advisable to only use ExtremeSpeed when it is needed, as its meager 8 PP is easily expended hitting Lugias and Giratinas that don't care about it; what aggravates the PP problems is that many Ubers, including the afore-mentioned Giratina and Lugia, have the Pressure ability, which doubles PP usage for direct attacks. With its main asset gone, this Arceus is effectively spayed and neutered. As long as one doesn't play in an abnormally poor fashion, however, these statements should never stand to discourage one from taking advantage of the divine terror that this set is.

2nd Place:

~ The title of “The Poké King”

~ 1/5th of total points donated and 2 Reps

~ They will also receive a perfectly trained Giratina built to be turned into it’s new Origin form. (It should be noted that this Giratina was built for being a GiratinO and will therefor not function as effectively in its normal form)

[spoiler=GiratinO Run Down]

Name: GIRATINA

Stats (In Origin form): Hp 477 / Atk 229 / Def 235 / SpA 368 / SpD 236 / Spe 244

OT: Felix

Item: Platinum Orb

~ Substitute

~ Shadow Ball

~ Aura Sphere

~ Calm Mind

Blurb

Sub and CM are the set up moves. Shadow Ball and Aura Sphere have the best coverage. This guy sets up very easily on supporters but best on Blissey which is by far the most OU Pokemon and has a great niche in Ubers too, this however, a Special Attacker , can beat her 1 on 1. The Speed though unusually high for GiratinO lets you outrun and kill Tyranitar among others that are slower. Only being able to use Platinum Orb as an item may seem like a disadvantage, but it makes GiratinO immune to Trick and Knock Off, which comes in handy a lot (Especially with Latias and her Soul Dew). Sides it can be changed to Leftovers if you prefer.

3rd Place:

~ The title of “The Poké Master”

~1/10th of total points donated and 1 Rep.

~ They will also receive a perfectly trained Shaymin, built to be turned into it’s new Sky form. (It should be noted that this Shaymin was built for being a Skymin and will therefor not function as effectively in its land form)

[spoiler=Skymin Run Down]

Name: SHAYMIN

Stats (In Sky form): Hp 338 / Atk 198 / Def 181 / SpA 339 / SpD 178 / Spe 252

OT: Cooper (this guy had it originally but I trained it)

Item: Yache Berry (feel free to change it to Focus Sash if your preference lies that way)

~ Seed Flare

~ Air Slash

~ Earth Power

~ HP Ice

OK, so this thing is beastly fast and it’s SpA is fair, what this set really works with is Skymin’s Serene Grace ability and the fact it has a Flinch move, this means that Skymin has a 60% Flinch Rate move. Plus There’s a 40% chance that a Poke’s SpD will be lowered by Seed Flare, then you factor in Serene Grace and it’s an 80% chance that there SpD will half after you use it, I’ve got to say that even Blissey wouldn’t be too hot about that, let alone any other Pokemon, especially when there’s something as fast as Skymin staring it down. The only thing this set really has to look out for is Pokes with Ice Shard, Scarfers and three of the Deoxys’, anything none Uber that would be faster than it doesn’t belong in Uber Meta anyway.

The Pokemon up for grabs here cannot be guaranteed free from hacks, as you can see Air Slash was falsely placed on Shaymin, however it will be perfectly legal once it becomes Skymin. Other things may have been changed but IVs were properly obtained through chance and that’s what really counts.

[spoiler=1st Round]

Jasa159 vs Black Magician Girl

Kinduel1 vs Dark

Flame Dragon vs Swift

Queen-Dragoon vs Overheat29

Since Latias isn't officially an uber any more I recommend taking her off the list. She's been tested in OU and she has been found to not be as problematic as she was when she had Soul Dew. Also throw Skymin and GiratinO on to ubers since some people might be smart and use them.

Side from that the prizes are great and I can't wait for this to start.

O, also the help desk is up.

kk I'll take Latias off. I was debating it myself but I went with keeping it banned but if you think it's a good idea I'll do it. Plus gotta add Soul Dew clause.

Flame is right, Latias and soon-to be Latios are OU without Soul Dew. Skymin and G-O are Uber as well. Are we allowed to use ARDS to capture Pokemon with good IVs, or do we have to IV breed them?

Questions go on Help Desk, also ARDS hacks are acceptable so long as you do not edit IVs, use illegal move. Plus Plat moves are fine. There's a link under How Battle will be Organized. However I'm glad you're competing, Dark.

Actually, all you have to do is click on the little 'reply' button on your post, and then guess what? You can scroll right through all the little spoilers in the Quote and pluck out the address. Which only took about twenty seconds.

Nice try though.
