[DISC]The monarchs

Recommended Posts

Yeah, Granmarg is my favorite of the Monarchs. Even though he's not the best.

This is my order for them.

Caius, Kuraz, Raiza, Mobius, Thestalos, Granmarg, Zaborg.

I know I'm wrong on the actual order. So, please don't freak out. Just correct me. (Nicely.)

I was right! Almost. I just got Mobius and Thestalos backwards. The only reason for that is because I've never had a problem with hand advantage or disadvantage so I still don't see how it helps. (Yes. I know it makes me sound like a major noob.)

Kuraz is horrible.

Or Kreis or whatever you call him.

How do you figure? Give us your logic.

1. If you blow up your opponent's cards, they get +1 Card Advantage, which is definetly not a good thing, unless you plan to finish this turn. But the chances of that are slim because you:

2. Can't attack during the turn it's Summoned. You might as well blow himself up with his own effect. Game today is very fast paced.

In other words, it's a -1, which is a first for a Monarch. All the others were either 0 or +1. That already makes it an outcast. Unless you're going to be milking it for cards yourself.

Heck, it's not even a Monarch. You can say that it's not bad, but it is definetly at the bottom of the Monarch list. It might see a little play with Prem/CoH, but they're banned.

He can take down ANY two cards on the field, he get's his effect when SS or Tribute Summoned, you can clear some field space on your side if you really need to, if you have a card out you don't need anymore, swap it out for a draw, etc;

I would like Crab Helmet to argue against you. lol, I'm not very good at it.

1. How do they get +1. They loss a card, then draw 1. Looks like 0.

2. The fact that you can special summon him, blow up two cards, then tribute him or use him in a Synchro gets around the fact that he can't attack for one turn. Hell if you can't do that you can always use his effect to blow himself up and get a card.

Seeing as he is name has monarch in it he is one, just different then the other 6. He is by no means the best, but he is versatile enough to put him above at least Granmarg and Zaborg but I also say he is above Mobius.

1. Caius (Targets anything on the field. Removes the problem, not just prolongs the inevitable like Raiza. Dark Support like Allure of Darkness and Fires of Doomsday exist.)

2. Raiza (Targets anything on the field. Spinning can be extremely harmful.)

3. Thestalos (It goes off most of the time, but Thestalos's randomness factor makes it a bit tough to deal with.)

4. Mobius (The only one that has a +1 effect, as well as an optional effect, but because everything else is chainable, it's not so good.)

5. Granmarg (It's got it's places in rock decks, and Ev-Hero decks. I guess... <_<)

6. Zaborg (Greatly outclassed by Raiza and Caius in what it does, without having the niche deck that Granmarg has.)

Kuraz is different. What it lacks in straight up advantage it makes up for in sheer flexibility.

Indeed. The real difference is that all the other Monarchs are just LOL I AM SUMMON AND KILL UR STUFF AND KILL U' date=' while the closest Kreis gets to this is setting up for OTKs with LOL I AM SUMMON AND KILL UR STUFF SO SOMEFIN ELSE KILL U, while allowing him to go as far away from that as blowing up your own cards (whether just to replace useless cards or to activate additional effects like D.D. Survivor or Dark Coffin or whatever). Simple-minded fools underestimate him simply because they see the word "Monarch" in his name and try to use him as they would the others, even if they openly acknowledge that he is different from the others. And yes, that was indeed directed at this Lost Letter rook.

From experience' date=' my order is:

Raiza > Caius > Thestalos > Kuraz > Mobius > Granmarg > Zaborg.

Raiza wins games.

I'd have to agree with you that Raiza is the best, but from my experience in YGO in general, a card with more uses > a card with better purposes.

Caius > Raiza > Thestalos > Mobius > Zaborg > Granmarg

The fact that Caius/Raiza exist doesn't make Zaborg any worse than he was before.

Hogwash, good sir. Power creep makes older, less useful cards obsolete, and those with some resistance to becoming obsolete can become more useful than unilaterally outclassed cards, and therefore "better".
