Who Wants Duel Terminals?

Recommended Posts

Now before anybody says anything, yes, I'm back, hi, nice to meet you.

Now, back on topic.

Although I'm still in this game, I've been angered as hell that I've been born in the United States and not Japan. Why? Well, let's just say I don't think Konami will release Duel terminals here anytime soon, and if they did, I most likely would not be near any of them.

Why? The Duel Terminals are not only video arcade games, but come with some sweet packs of cards with archetypes I could only dream about. Let's do a run-through.

Ice Barrier: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Ice_Barrier

"The Ice Barrier creatures are a series of water monsters that focus on increasing your Field Advantage through means such as Tokens and restricting your opponent's attack options and controlling the contents of your opponent's side." A very tactical group of cards, the Ice barrier cards know how to make an impact. With 3 Synchros, these cards can pack a punch when used correctly. While some destroy cards, others like Acolyte borrow Celtic Guard's effect of being invulnerable to 1900+ ATK monsters. These monster's aren't strong in attack as they are in effects (The strongest is a 2500 ATK Synchro) Used together, they stop the effects of Spell and Traps (Great Monk), pull a Gravity Bind (Practitioner), and discard-to-destroy (Gungir).

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

You can discard any number of cards to return from the field to the owner's hand the same number of cards you discarded.

Mist Valley: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Mist_Valley

Reminding me of Nightmare Penguin's deck from WC08, these Wind monsters (could you tell?) pack effects that return cards to their respective hands (Finally, good use for Roc!). Although not much is released (two tuners and no Synchros?), these cards are obviously not good by themselves. With cards like Hane-Hane, Nightmare Penguin and Penguin Soldier, you could get a pretty interesting deck, but again, there aren't too many cards, but they were released in the first Duel Terminal, so I don't believe they'll make more.

When this face-up card is returned from the field to your hand, Special Summon this card. During the turn this card Special Summoned this way, this card cannot attack.

X-Sabers: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/X-Saber

I'm excited for these guys. The X-Sabers are a series of Earth warrior/beast-warrior monsters that not only destroy hands and return cards, but some provide massive attack power. The new 2009 Starter Deck will release some X-Sabers, including Urbellum. These cards combine tactical destruction with massive attack, which is just my style. Even newer sets have come out with the XX-Saber sub-archetype, providing even more support. Do I smell "future beatdown deck", or is that just dinner?

Worms: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Worms

Remember when Needle Worm, was a popular card in the fact that it ruined Big Eye's effect of looking at the first 5 cards in their deck by destroying them? Well, now the Millers finally have support in the form of, you guessed it, more worms. While some have drawing effects, most others have field advantage effects that control battle positions, and some are actually pretty powerful (Worm King, in the sense that you can tribute Worm monsters that auto Special Summon for tribute later). Pretty cool stuff, although I think Konami have stopped making more since they've officially made a Worm monster starting with each letter in the alphabet.

Worm Queen

This card can be Tribute Summoned in face-up Attack Position by Tributing 1 Reptile-Type "Worm" monster. Once per turn, by Tributing 1 Reptile-Type "Worm" monster you control, you can Special Summon 1 Reptile-Type "Worm" monster with a Level equal to or lower than the Tributed monster from your Deck.

Allies Of Justice: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Allies_of_Justice

Another favorite archetype, these cards are Dark machine-type monsters that gain a massive advantage against light monsters. With 4 Synchros, these cards make it virtually impossible to win with a Light-type deck (Ally Bomb, Decisive Arms, D.D. Checker, Unknown Crusher). Unfortunately, that's pretty much their best usage, against Light-type monsters, but against them, they're pretty much unstoppable, unless you're a complete jackass.

Ally Of Justice - Light Gazer

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

This card gains 200 ATK for each LIGHT monster in your opponent's Graveyard.

Flamvells: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Flamvell

A small group of Fire-type monsters, these cards focus on Life Point burnage and using each other to increase ATK. Not only that, thanks to Flamvell Pawn, just about every monster has 200 DEF, making it easy for his effect to search and summon. They even have a Synchro of their own, and with Flamvell Counter, these guys could easily pump up a Volcanic deck. It's still a small archetype, though, but I smell something burning...[no pun intended] (Flamvell Magical gives AOJ support? Hmmm...)

FlamvellArcherDT02-JP-DNPR-DT.jpg

Flamvell Archer

Once per turn, you can Tribute 1 face-up Pyro-Type monster to have a face-up "Flamvell" monster gain 800 ATK until the End Phase.

Genex: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Genex

My final favorite archetype, Genex cards use the tuning abilities of Genex Controller to summon other Genex cards, as well as a whopping 4 Synchros. These cards branch out by using each of the attributes to summon their respective Synchro. Genex Controller is the heart of the deck, however, so for a genex deck to work, it MUST have 3 Controllers. Apparently, as if they didn't have enough support already, the Real Genex cards came with, giving 3 more support cards and another Synchro! It may sound like work, but it's worth it in the end.

ThermalGenexDT03-JP-DScPR-DT.jpg

Thermal Genex

"Genex Controller" + 1 or more FIRE non-Tuner Monsters

This card gains 200 ATK for each FIRE monster in your Graveyard. If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the number of "Genex" monsters in your Graveyard x 200.

Naturia: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Naturia

A group of Earth-type monsters, these guys can take advantage of opposing Spell and Traps (Rock) and are great for a swarming deck, as most of their effects involve Special Summoning when Spells/Traps are activated. Great for a swarming deck, like Insects or Plants.

NaturiaCosmosBeetDT04-JP-DNPR-DT.jpg

Naturia Cosmos Beet

When your opponent Normal Summons a monster, you can Special Summon this card from your hand.

Jurak: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Jurak

The first ever Dinosaur archetype (?), the Juraks are a small, but effective group of Dinos that involve tributing Dinos to gain ATK for others. Their trump card, Synchro Jurak Giganot gives ATK to Juraks on the field based on the number of Juraks in the grave.

JurakSpinosDT05-JP-DRPR-DT.jpg

Jurak Spinos

When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, Special Summon 1 "Spinos Token" (Dinosaur/FIRE/Level 1/ATK 300/DEF 0) to your opponent side of the field in Attack Position.

Fiend Roar Deities: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Fiend_Roar_Deities

These Light-type Fiend monsters use discarding each other to use their effects, which can be devastating when Synchro Levuathan comes out, recovering Deities in the grave to be used again. Most are fairly weak cards, but with 2 Synchros, this archetype is one to look out for.

FiendRoarDeityValkirisDT04-JP-DUPR-DT.jpg

Fiend Roar Deity Valkris

1 "Fiend Roar Deity" Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

Once per turn you may discard 1 Fiend type monster to draw 1 card.

Dragunity: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Dragunity

Another recent Duel Terminal archetype after Fiend Roar Deities, these cards combine Winged Beasts for attacking with Level 3- Dragon monsters to be equipped to them. The result? A recipe for sheer swarming madness. Combine that with quick Synchro summoning, and you've got a recipe for disaster.

Dragunity-Black-SpearDT06-JP.jpg

Dragunity - Black Spear

Activate by Tributing 1 "Dragunity" Dragon monster you control. Select and Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Winged Beast-Type monster from your Graveyard. This effect can only be used once per turn.

I'm pretty sure there's at least 1 archetype that fits your bill. If not, well, that's your opinion. I'm pretty sure some of these cards have been brought up in another thread in the past, but I never saw it, so, blah.

There is hope, though! I do see Duel Terminal card packs on ebay for $30...(unless you like japanese cards)

What I think why they havent brought them over is because Arcade style games aren't as popular as they are in America. Americans prefer to stay home and play games on consoles. Japan probably has a broader market

This is very true. If memory serves arcades are still relatively popular in Japan, so there the system would work. Here however.....it would fall flat on its face.

I for one don’t care about the arcade game. I just want to cool cards so the “release them in DT Packs” is a very good idea. But the people at Konami are asses and I don't see this happening any time soon.

If they do make it into a game they should just find a way to make it a console title and use internet to make you be able to play with alot of pepole. but again i dont see that happening soon.

WiiWare's all I see as a possibility there, but that wouldn't allow the cards to be distributed.

There's support for Flamvells in Ancient Prophecy so there's a good chance the release of the first couple of DT cards might be sped up a bit....also I really want to try a Fire Synchro Deck based around Flamvell Magical...hurry up and release the damn cards Konami.

Um, gee, the Allies Of Justice?

Like I said before, some X-Saber cards are being released in the 2009 Starter Deck, so at least it provides some hope for the rest of them. If these Duel Terminal cards (the cards, not the actual game) have already been made a huge hit in Japan, there's bound to be some future releases of those cards in Europe/North America in the near future.

Imagine how much crap Konami would get from players who want these cards in America. You wouldn't want to because it'd be that bad. Hell, I wouldn't mind it. Some of these cards are awesome.

And its possible that Mist Wurm is a part of Mist Valleys but its unconfirmed
