During the episodes when Sasuke leaves to join Orochimaru, when Sasuke has a flashback to his childhood, Itachi says something about a scroll containing documentation of the true reason for the Sharingan, but do we ever find out what that reason is? Then he had two sons, The older(or younger) gothe occular powers and the younger(i think) got the Ninjutsu powers and so after the sage died the brothers fought off and eventually the sharingan formed and soon the 1st hokage and Madara fought and soon Naruto and sasuke will fight.
