i thought it was too funny for the questions and answers section, dark synchro!

okay

so

does a dark synchro on your side of the field increase or decrease the calculator's attack power?

ot: discuss the hypothetical inclusion of dark synchros as they are in the show, and how this would affect the game. examples would be new calculator rulings.

what other cards would it mess with?

if there was a dark synchro spellcaster, could you freely resummon him with exemplar?

if you synchro with dark synchros, do they could negatively?

can dark synchros swing under level limit?

They count as the same level. Yusei did something that involved level 8 monsters to Hundred-Eyes Dragon and it was affected...I just forget what it was exactly but it was a burn card if I remember and Hundred-Eyes Dragon was treated as positive 8 for it.

No. He used a burn card that counted One Hundred Eye Dragon as a Synchro monster (stating that Dark Synchro monsters are also Synchro monsters). Its Level didn't matter.

Dark Synchros' Level I believe are counted by their absolute value I believe' date=' not the negativity.

The Dark Synchro idea sounded cool until all these connections as regular Synchros pretty much made them Synchros whose material was:

1 "Dark Tuner" Tuner - 1 non-Tuner monster

Yes I reversed the order of the material. If the negative levels aren't treated negatively and are treated using their absolute value, then they might as well have positive levels.

If they have positive levels and are treated as Synchros, they might as well be Synchros.

Dark Synchros REALLY turned into regular Synchros (as in, release the Dark Tuners as Tuner monsters and change the material to what I wrote earlier rather than "1 DARK Tuner + 1 [insert Type here']-type monster") would have been rather cool though. I just don't like how Dark Synchros, which were supposed to be different, was really mostly the same except for subtracting Levels for their summon.

In Tag Force 4, even though its understood a Dark Synchro has a negative level (based on the calculation of materal - tuner = some negative value), while Face-up on the field, they counted as a positive level in regards to other card effects. Dark Synchros still could not attack with Gravity Bind on the field even though they were Level 4 or lower for example, so it should work for any other effect as well (assumingly).

They'd be awesome with Gravity Bind | Level Limit Area B | ect....

Personally, now that we havn't used them, I'm glad. I think they would be too slow and situational to get out. Plus, the effects would have to be balanced to make me want to actually go through all of the work putting it on the field. In TF4, with all the support that they had, and with the best possible deck, I found myself asking "Why did I just make a deck for these?". They were that boring.

Dark Synchros should be immune to Level Limit Area B and Gravity Bind

Its pro

Fix'd.

I am going to continue to pretend that the negative-levelled Dark Synchros really have negative levels and are lulzy with Level Limit.

So IF Dark Synchros existed and IF they really had negative levels, and you activated the effect of Magical Exemplar, you wouldn't be able to revive a Spellcaster-Type Dark Synchro, because you can't "remove" a negative number of Spell Counters. If it said "equal or lower" instead of just "equal", you would need to remove at least 1 Spell Counter, since the effect requires the removal of counters as a cost.

Even if it still said lower, 1 is not lower than a negative number :< Since it is still neither equal or lower, you wouldn't be able to remove the required counters x.o; If you mean equal to or HIGHER, then that should work for you :o

No, the Level of the monster would have to be equal or lower than the number of counters removed, not the number of counters equal or lower than the Level.

Once per turn, you can remove any number of Spell Counters from this card to Special Summon a Spellcaster-Type monster from your hand or Graveyard whose Level is equal to the number of Spell Counters you removed.

Guess you're right, my bad :o I was thinking you simply removed a number of counters equal to the monster you were summoning, but with its wording, you remove X number of counters first, then based on that summon the monster.

Really, I think it's good that Dark Synchros were dismissed as a RL game mechanic. They'd have to create a reasonable number of Dark Tuner monsters, and it's true, the concept really isn't that unique. The only thing regulating their difficult summoning mechanic (in the anime) was that they had EXTREMELY broken effects.

Frozen Fitzgerald had the Ancient Gear effect mixed with a built in Revival effect that also nuked monsters that battled it at the end of the battle phase. Dark Diviner...oh god, that thing is evil for Mill. Hundred Eyes Dragon could steal DARK effect monsters from the grave at any time and any number of times a turn with no cost. Underground Arachnid...has the exact same effect in RL. Zeman...did that thing even HAVE a real notable ability in anime? Dark Flat Top...summoned an incredibly hard to summon monster with a really good effect.

Dark Synchros would be a ruling nightmare if they kept the mechanic. It would be so unfair to have a 3000 ATK monster that isn't affected by Bind or Level Limit. And things like the Calculator or other Level dependant cards would be confusing. And if they let Dark Synchros be negative level, wouldn't that mean other cards should now be allowed to have a negative level, or a level of 0, rather than the level rule of "1 minimum"? It would mess up the entire game mechanic of monster levels.
