But Machine Duplication ITSELF is only a +1 or +0.

A +1 is a card that gives you a gain of 1, counting all cards required for the use of the card. For example, Pot of Greed is a +1. You draw 2 (+2), but give up Pot of Greed (-1). (+2-1= +1)

Lightning Vortex requires a discard (-1) and itself (-1). It can destroy from up to 1 (+1) to 5 (+5) of your opponent monsters, meaning you can have a range net gain of -1 (destroy 1 monster) to +3 (destroy 5).

also' date=' how is breeding machine a good +1....

Yea, that was me.

The wiki is terrible as it is at making "combos", so I usually add a random Jam Breeding Machine to various tip/combo pages

So Arm, you're the reason I see Jam Breeding Machine on like 500 pages every time I check the wiki?

Thing is, I hardly do that. Only ocasionaly I want to mess with a page, because of the Tips section on Jam Breeding Machine.

* Two or even three "Jam Breeding Machine's" can work together at the same time on the field seeing as their effects negate all summons except "Slime Token's".

* Summon "Cybernetic Magician" before activating your "Jam Breeding Machine" and use the Magician's effect to turn tokens into a 2000 point attackers.

* Also try summoning "Star Boy" before activating "Jam Breeding Machine" along with "Wetlands" so your jams can have 2200 ATK points per summon. Use this combo along with "Aqua Chorus" to have 2700 ATK per summon.

* You can use this card in unison with "Mass Driver" to inflict 400 points of damage to your opponent's life points every turn.

* You can combine "Cybernetic Magician" with "Wetlands" to get a 3200 ATK beatstick.

* After stalling to get enough Slime Tokens on the field' date=' use "Token Thanksgiving" or "Token Feastevil", or destroy Jam Breeding Machine and summon "Parasitic Ticky". "Ojama Trio" can further boost their effects.

* If you're using this card to stall, you can improve it .with a combination of Stumbling (to put the tokens in Defence mode) and The Dark Door.

* Setting monsters is not restricted by Jam Breeding Machine, so if you want to work around the normal summoning restrictions (perhaps also tributing some of your Slime Tokens), you can use a set/Book of Taiyou combo to get a monster in Attack Position right away.

* "Jam Breeding Machine" works well with "Wetlands","Aqua Chorus","Chthonian Alliance","United We Stand" and "Pixie Ring".

* Consider using this card with other cards that require tributes to work well, like "Panther Warrior" or "Destiny Hero - Dasher".

* "Jam Breeding Machine" combos nicely with "Cybernetic Magician" and "Aqua Chorus". [/quote']

Gadgets aren't +1s' date=' they'll almost definitely just get destroyed by battle so the on-field monster is effectively lost.

joke

Well, I suppose we can say that they, are because they are going to stick around at least until the End Phase.

Maybe we should look at it like this:

Man-Eater Bug (for example) is technically a +1. The "cost" (well, condition) is flipping it face-up, and the effect is destroying a monster. Hence, +1. But it will almost always be flipped by battle and destroyed. Since destroying it in battle is -1, Man-Eater Bug is an effective +0.

The Gadgets grant you an immediate +1, and you can still play with that Gadget for the rest of the turn. Yes, once it's your opponent's turn they probably will be destroyed, which would be a -1, but not we're counting advantage fluctuating over the course of the game, instead of the result of a single combo.

Guys, dont you get it?

Were using the lolwiki's logic:

Drawing the monster during the Draw Phase is a +1

Adding it to your hand is a +1

Placing your hand on that card again because you want to use it is a +1

Placing that card from your hand onto the table is a +1

Taking in air before saying what card it is' date=' is a +1

Declaring: "I activate/Summon [X']" is a +1

Carrying out said action is a +1

Looking at your opponents angry face is a +1

Reading this list and then repeating it is a +1

So from 1 card, you get like a +402

I don't think its right to count the likelyhood of something being destroyed into whether it counts as a -1 or not.

You can throw it into consideration that "i'll most likely be attacked and destroyed", but flip effects like Dekoichi (which draws 1 card), Gadgets (that add 1 card to your hand from the deck), etc are +1s. Its not a cost to remove Dekoichi or the Gadget in question, nor does it have to be destroyed for its effect to activate.

Dekoichi is just a slower +1 and a Gadget is a faster and more reliable +1. A Gadget also has a better chance at staying a +1 than Dekoichi does due to the nature of activating its effect. Even then, Dekoichi would still save you from an attack :3c

In any case, you should only consider the activation of the effect and the effect itself. Outside influences like "it will most likely be destroyed by battle to activate its effect" is not the same as "it needs to be destroyed by battle to activate its effect". Sangan is a +0 compared to Dekoichi's +1, its just that Sangan has a much better effect thanks to the trigger and what the effect does. :D
