As far as I can tell, Jaden's attempt at logic goes something like this:

Some people think Obelisk's effect works via Spell Speed 4.

Spell Speed 4 does not exist.

Therefore, Obelisk's effect doesn't work.

I have used this chain of reasoning to derive my own proof of Jaden's non-existence.

Some people think Jaden was created by unicorns.

Unicorns do not exist.

Therefore, Jaden does not exist.

I went to see what he linked about Spell Speed 4, and even on the page itself, it tells him in black and white what we've already been saying:

Note however, most of those "impossible to counter" effects are in fact Spell Speed 1 or Spell Speed 2 effects. In most cases are Trigger Effects, Continuous Effects which does not uses the chain or even "Conditions", not real effects. In all cases, those effects cannot be countered due to the nature of their effect, not their spell speed.

it works like Jinzo' date=' who can be Bottomless'd.

Wait, what?

+1 Post Count

Aw, Goddamnit. Now my intelligence is completely thrown into question. Pretend I never said Jinzo could be Bottomless'd.

Now, before I join everyone else and start spitting out "+1postcounts", let me try to explain Spell Speed and hope not too many people ninja me.

Spell Speed determines two things:

1. When the effect can be activated, if it activates.

2. If the given effect can chain to the current Chain Link.

NOT ALL EFFECTS ACTIVATE. Continuous Effects don't - that's why they're continuous. Royal Decree is activated when you flip it, but the effect itself DOESN'T. Otherwise, each time a trap was negated by Royal Decree, you could chain Solemn and counter - but you can't do that, and I think you know you can't.

Imagine there is a Continuous Spell Card on the field that says: "The Normal Summon of DIVINE Attribute monsters cannot be negated." While that was in play, do you believe you could Solemn Obelisk?

EDIT: God, people are posting in this like crazy. I didn't know people could respond this FAST.

Are you for real?

Obelisk says no effects can be activated when he is summoned...

you playing ANY card would be activating an effect' date=' which Obelisk negates

Obelisk says his summon cannot be negated

Solemn negates his summon

Obelisk negates

[/quote']

Actually, that's NOT how it works. Obelisk doesn't let you activate effects that would negate his Summon (like Solemn) and then negate them; instead, Obelisk preemptively makes it against the rules to activate effects that would negate his Summon.

But they do exist

Denying Jaden does not exist will not make him bend to your will to quiet down, give up and stop thinking Spell Speed 4 exists.

The fact that your Crab Helmet will make him bend to your will and stop bugging YCM about Spell Speed 4.

What the Wiki says is entirely correct as far as I've read into it' date=' he's just completely misquoting it.

The wiki is correct 50% of the time.

The other 50% is them promoting terrible players. So if they are good enough to understand rulings and what-not, why do they suck at deck-creation?

Things like rulings, card details, and so on are indisputable facts - a card is either Level 7 or it isn't and a judge either said something or didn't, with no room for argument or error. What constitutes a good deck is less clear-cut, so the Wiki horribly fails.

Because that part is subjective.

I actually have taken a look at some of the Wiki deck ideas, but I mostly just use it as a guide. They suck at making GOOD decks, but a lot of the time, they'll mention a support card or strategy that I missed/didn't know about, even if the rest of the advice sucks.

Guest Delinquent Girl NiAtSoFi

This is a retarded topic.

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Obelisk_the_Tormentor_%28Effect_Monster%29

You must Tribute 3 monsters to Normal Summon this card (you cannot Set this card). The Normal Summon of this card cannot be negated. When this card is Normal Summoned, Spells, Traps, and Effect Monster effects cannot be activated. This card cannot be targeted by the effects of Spells, Traps or Effect Monsters. If this card is Special Summoned, it is sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase. You can Tribute 2 monsters to destroy all monsters your opponent controls. This card cannot declare an attack the turn this effect is activated.

Obelisk's effect kills any argument over whether his summon can be stopped.

Egyptian God has spoken. Solemn Judgment's God doesn't say no in this case.

Why is this topic still alive anyways?

Because of people like you who ask that question and people like me who answer them like this.

Which is why I posted said comment to obtain said response in order to continue this stupid silly thread.

Asking a question you already knew the answer to gave us a total of... 4 posts altogether. Great Job :3c

i skimmed most of this, but i'm going to assume that some people still dont understand how spell speeds are irrelevant here, since obelisk's no-negation effect is continuous. it doesnt activate, and cannot be chained to.

obelisk cannot be solemnd, negated, chained to, etc.

You a a page on wiki to show that Spell Speed 4 does not exist. Sadly, you shot yourself in the foot.

Sad day.
