Trap Hole, Smashing Ground, Etc.

These cards have ruined the fun of dueling. Oh, you get out an amazing monster like Goyo Guardian, and what does your opponent do? They activate Bottomless Trap Hole, just to piss you off. Every time this happens to me, which it does, I just instantly forfeit. They might as well be cheating, because it is SO UNFAIR how you work to get out a high-level monster, just to get it destroyed by a single trap card.

 

Discuss the douches who run Bottomless @2 and Smashing Ground.

Well Smashing is unlimited, might a well run a few of them. Bottomless is pretty much a staple IMO, I always run it.

 

They might ruin the fun of bringing out a high ATK monster but it's always fun to counter it with Solemn or something else

People don't play BTH to piss you off. They do it to control your field, stopping your advantage over them. How's that unfair? It's the key to victory. They aren't douches, they're playing smart. You think it's fair to play a 2800 ATK monster that dominates your opponent's monsters while they sit there and watch? Well, it's not fair. Neither is wasting your opponent's time by quitting the game when he/she flip up BTH. If you don't like BTH or Smashing, invest in Dark Bribes, Solemn Judgment, and My Body As A Shield.

When I flip BTH I don't think it as, Yes I won!. But when I get BTH'd I go f*******ccckkk, but than I go JK and do some combos.

I know exactly what you mean. You're completely wrong, but I know exactly what you mean.

 

It's annoying to topdeck something or something else, feel like you're about to win, and get Bottomless'd. Or - if you avoided that - feel smug that you've totally turned things around and then watch your opponent quietly append Smashing Ground to their reply.

 

But it's necessary. The card's you're complaining about are the generic +0 destruction cards. If all destruction cards were Tribute to the Doomed -1s, everyone would have to play conservatively to be able to recover from anything. For every time your Goyo is Bottomless'd, there's the time you Solemn Stardust. K'?

I have a friend that thinks like you in this regard. He says "I surrender" when I destroy his ace monster, but some times he has beat me when I told him to stay in game after I destroyed his ace monster. So don't give up just because you are getting Bottomless'd or something like that.

 

Also, Yu-Gi-Oh is not for bringing out your favourite monsters and expect them to last forever there like they're untochable, at least if you're playing against a serious player. Monsters with high stats or great effects are likely to not stay on the field so much, and that's the reason you should try to either: 1.- Protect your monster better. 2.- Go for the OTK when you bring your ace monster so your opponent does not stand a chance if they don't survive 'til next turn.

 

So, I understand why you are complaining, but you need to understand that in Yu-Gi-Oh no card is supposed to stay too much longer in play, as destruction, return to hand and remove from play are pretty much popular today. Besides, if it is only because it is your favourite or best monster, don't expect people to care about it, because either they are playing with you and they aren't going to let you win them, or they simply do not care about that 'cause they are competitive players.

I'm trying to decide if he's serious or not.

 

I mean...the entire concept of Trap cards involves hindering your opponent's plays and countering or destroying their cards, or pulling some sort of surprise to your advantage. And since when has summoning a Level 6 Synchro monster been such an accomplishment that destroying it with a trap is equivalent to cheating?

 

I just don't see how it can be considered "unfair". The game has progressed a lot from when summoning a Blue-Eyes White Dragon meant "draw Raigeki/Dark Hole/Man-eater Bug or lose". And those cards aren't nearly as bad as the cards that are on the banned list, like the aforementioned bolt of lightning and black hole.

 

Want unfair? Duel someone with a FTK deck, let them go first, and watch as you don't even get a turn. Or play Traditional, summon a horde of monsters, and watch a SINGLE, costless card wipe them all out.

 

I wasn't in the game back then. Was dueling fun when the Chaos cards were king of the world? Amazing how the game has changed...Bottomless Trap Hole is equivalent to cheating. At least we have the ALMIGHTY STARDUST DRAGON to fight the evils of using destruction cards to destroy cards!
