Mr. Judgment Dragon
and never will be At least not while we're playing under Konami's banlists.
Lonk
When Konami wanted to put some more cards in the game that only relied on which duelist can bring out their cards fastest. Back then, it was like a 1 on 1 competition with merciless heat. Anyone's game. When Yugioh GX Series 3 booster packs (i.e. Gladiator's Assault, Phantom Darkness & Light of Destruction) were released, the meta was doomed. You probably could guess that after Series 3 was finished, Synchros were introduced. The rest is self-explanatory: Now YGO is just basically a game of speed of whoever summons the most monsters in a turn wins.
metalflygon08
Back when you could run ancient gears... so for me, before Fortress Dragon.
Rhiannaers
...I'm not really sure why I'm posting here. I only know like a fifth of the stuff you guys are talking about. Maybe I'm posting just to show how lame I am for not knowing everythingever about this game. Maybe it's to say that I haven't notticed the unbalancedness because I'm really not sure what an unbalanced card is. But maybe I'm just wasting internet space now. Anyway, most (if not all) of the cards in my deck are from when the YGOTCG first came out.
El Majishan
The days when AoL decks were actually playable :) Good times...Good times. I'm a a bit divided, I like the new cards being printed, I just dont like when they print that 1 freaking card that takes an archtype from good or decent to f@#$ing broken and leaves it unlimited. Manjoume Thunder
TSHD was worse than both PTDN and LODT. The latter 2 changed the game from not very bad to very bad. TSHD completely destroyed the best yugioh format.
~ P O L A R I S ~
The introduction of Archetypes hurt, but the game was never balanced.
Blake
Umm.... Archetypes have always been around, but they were not so developed, with a few members. (DM, BEWD, etc.). The game was balanced right after COD/BLS was banned.

Lonk
PTDN gave us loads of broken card. TSHD gave X-Sabers constancy to make use of their already broken Faultroll and Cat and Infernities their OTK. Fixed. TSHD should have never been made. It was the worst pack to be released this year considering that all you see these days are X-Sabers, Infernities and Frogs. PTDN gave us broken DARK support. I wonder when lolnami is going to make WIND broken.
Blake
I used Frogs before they were popular... now everyone hates them =/ And I run an Aqua Frog build without Ronin. I keep it that way for a special reason.

Tronta
wind isn't cool like dark and light. i miss the good old days when summoned skull was the meta.
Just Crouton
I remember when beatdown was the only strategy...that was before you whipper-snappers developed OTKs and FTKs! Back in my day, we played beatsticks and lolEquips. You kids and your Dark Armed Dragons, and your Quickdraw Synchrons, and the hippin' and the hoppin' and the pimpin' and trippin'! I like the broken cards.
Zkaiser
I've always defied the meta by using a WATER deck every format. My friends and his REBMD deck shat their pants when I dropped Daedalus.
Dr. Cakey
The format was fine before TSHD. Eh, uh...but on the whole, there's no certain "section" of the game that was properly balanced.
Family Friendly
A BOO HOO HOO IM NOT WINNING THIS GAME IS TERRIBLE A BOO HOO HOO KONAMI IS SO AWFUL A BOO HOO HOO Look, kids, the way this game is going, things aren't going to change. Since PTDN, broken things will be released, change the game, rinse and repeat. It's that simple. You're acting like TSHD is something new and exciting that's never happened before - it's simply PTDN and LODT all over again. It's just an even more powerful power creep thrown onto the pile. This game doesn't suck; it's fast, sure, and some decks are unfair. But, get this: there's always going to be some decks that are unfair. If the publisher won't cater to your needs because you're their oh-so-special-number-one-customer, then stop being that. If this game really bothers you that much, quit. There's no point getting really frustrated about a card game on the internet if you've lost interest in it. It's unhealthy and, frankly, it's stupid. One could also look at this pack from a business standpoint. In a metagame such as the one we saw March 2010, pre-TSHD, there wasn't anything... exciting. Yugioh was almost losing its flavour. So Konami introduced TSHD and the power of the X-Sabers and Infernities. That pack sold through the goddamn roof. They release DREV and make Dark Desertapir and Pot of Duality (Super turned Secret, simply to sell more packs). All Konami wants to do is sell more packs. They don't care about YOU, they don't care about this GAME, they care about the goddamn money and will occasionally make sacrifices to keep customers (i.e. the many reprints circa late 2009 - early 2010). If you don't like that, then stop playing. Konami isn't doing this out of spite to YOU, they aren't making broken cards just to make the game BAD, they're just in it to make some bank because Konami is a business and should be thought of as such. tl;dr: Konami only cares about money, but that is understandable, so deal with it or stop playing. TechnoDoomedOne
I find the varied meta to be better, thanks. Also, while I partially agree with you, people can also play online, or with custom banlists, or both. Hell, if you want you can even play with custom cards. And then, when you see it plays better than the REAL format, it is normal to think the game sucks in some regards.
Fader
it was good i played when it released, but some were terribly Uped like the Vanilla atack. I like vanillas but even their stats sucked.
Just Crouton
I never follow formats because I don't what a format is. As long as you have a great deck that's unfair to your opponent and pisses them off, regardless of what current style is, you should do fine.
