[spoiler=CED, and His Legacy]

[i]In the beginning, monsters battled each other at a slow pace. But, on that fateful day, the invasion began. Monsters, born of Light and Darkness, invaded the world, starting a war with had no end. A war which forced all those who joined, to fight faster and more stronger during each day. A war which brung Chaos to the world. The two responsible for this war was no other then the creators of this world, and the Chaos monsters themselves. Due to their speed and strength, they believed they were the superior force and race, and thus, they started their campaign to destroy any inferior races. Leading this mighty armada, was two monsters born of Dark and Light. A soldier who's original goal was to slay a evil dragon, only to be corrupted and a dragon, who's power tempted the soldier who was sent to slay him. Together and along with their generals, they swarmed the battlefield and destroyed everything in their path. One day, on his journey, the Empeor Dragon found a small bird feasting on the corpses on the battlefield. The people in his presence payed no attention to this bird, but the Emperor knew of it's power. For only a few knew of his true power and how destructive it could be. It was usually found amoung the seas, in the after math of a sea serpent's rage or after a King's massive attack. The Emperor beckoned the bird, promising it power and great fame if it joined him. The bird only stared deep into the Emperor's eyes, even making him shudder, beforeing replying with a simple "Yata" before flying onto his shoulder. The weight that the Emperor felt on his shoulder was tremendous, but he carried on. Soon, after many succesful battles, the Emperor halted. He was confronted with the supreme beings who created him and others. They raised a mighty hammer and struck them with such force that it sent them plummenting through the earth and into a fiery hell. As they descended, some were sent to a lava pit, some to torture, but the Emperor, the Soldier, and the Bird was sent to the deepest parts of Hell. They were chained into a lake of not lava or brimstone, but of a icy grave. They all forced to endure countless tortures, pains, and then one day, it happened. The Emperor, not wanting his Legacy to be forgotten, used some of his strength to find a creature. He used his strength to summon forward a dragon and then corrupted it until it was evil and dark as he was. He created this dragon and told it to break through Hell and to reign as his heir. The dragon accepted the chance and climbed throught the depths of Hell and started his own era of terror. Unlike his father's campaign, he started a crusade and started the rule of all monsters of the Darkness. Decades after the Dark Dragon the Emperor, sent forward another Dragon, but of Light. This dragon was also gifted a similar power, but was more destructive. When it flew through the depths of Hell, it founded a Kingdom and raised a group of soldiers. They left a rebellion against the Dark monsters and it was a bitter stalemate. The two dragons met, for the first time. A dragon of Darkness and a dragon of Light. They both knew of each other and their origins. As they were about to battle, the divine beings who destroyed the Emperor came forward to the Dark Dragon and sealed some of his power, thus forcing him to retreat and go into hiding from the other dragon. But sadly, after some years, the divine beings did the same to the dragon of Light, thus ending the Emperor and his sons' Legacy for now....... [/i]

Anyhow, my friends played some YGO with me and asked why was the Banlist was created. I showed them Yata and CED. One of my friends, John, didn't get why Yata was banned. So I showed him some field nukers. He still thought that the lock was weak. So I showed him personally. He understood after the 3rd time.

Discuss the list, what and what not should be on it, how it made the game better, and of course, your times explaining why some things on the list is banned, limited, or semi'd.

Oh, Yata lock~ What a fun thing to do. <3

Anyways, the Banlist was created so that CED and whatnot don't appear out of the sky, blow up, without destroying, all the cards in both hands/field, and then dish out potential tons of damage >_>

Also, Cool story, even including DAD and JD.

Depended on Konami's decisions. If they made nasty broken cards, it goes to hell. If they didn't, it would be relatively fine.

Why the hell do I feel like I've seen this topic before? <_<

On-topic: List shouldn't exist, because card designer should know better then to make blatantly banworthy cards. Since they do make broken cards however, it's nice to see there is a system to go about it, but... yeah, we all know Konami's list is only out to make money so like... yeah.

if X-Saber Airbellum didn't exist we would still have Rescue Cat..... Dark Strike Fighter and Victory Dragon never truely saw any playtime since they were insta banned. if they want to make cards, don't make them broken to the point where getting a OTK or FTK is so easy a n00b using a self-kill deck can do it. Makiora the Destructor. I've been asked why its banned. NTK. is the reson why we don't have Makiora.

Wtf you on about, Dark Strike Fight had a whole format... and the format was one of the worst formats this game has ever had

And dont get me started on Makyura >_>
