Insects and the Meta

Recommended Posts

Insects have some great support cards like This, This, This and This. Insects work so well with Solidarity as well, so why couldn't they win? Discuss.

My biggest problem with insects is how so often their own support seems to work contrary to their supposed win condition, along with just plain not setting up their own win condition.

Insect Neglect, Lair Wire, Doom Dozer, and Aztekiped the Worm Warrior all work by RFG-ing insects. Verdant Garden works well when your own insects die. There exists no insects in the game that can up and kill themselves, or a quick way to send insects to the grave. Sure, you could mix in LS but at that point you might as well just run an LS deck and cut your losses.

Insects are one of my most favorite types why? idk but...

For example Demise, King of Armageddon. Use Gold S. to Remove Doom Dozer while you fill your grave with insects like Howling Insect and Gokipon then when you get Doom Dozer use Advanced Ritual Art to summon Demsie sending 2 Insect Knights to the graveyard in case you didn't have enough insects to summon Doom Dozer. Proceed to WIN :D

Insects dont get the respect they used to get anymore, so sad :/

They don't need a boss monster. A boss monster is just a quick fix. What they need is better, more playable support.

Preferably cards that have to do with self-milling.
As apparently Insects do better with that.

The problem is even with the Spiders getting non-anime support, the support just sucked. Lair Wire or whatever is a good destruction card, but generic destruction does it better. Doom Dozer and Aztekipede want insects to stay in the grave so they can remove them for their summons, not remove them to destroy a card.

I'd say one of the best supports insects got was Infernity Beetle because it's a Dark Insect Tuner, which let me use Underground Arachnid with Solidarity. The biggest issue insects have is that they dont have much synergy with one another. Spiders dont have much ways of switching battle positions aside from Spider Web, which doesn't stall nearly as well as it should. I've tested a Spider based deck and while it's fun, it's slow and weak to swarming.
