then why do you see people play it? Because it's one of the easiest FTKs in the game to make, requiring only one Normal Summon and infinitely many Special Summons. No Spells/Traps needed.

Wait, what?
The 'return another monster' part is the cost to activation Birdman.
Doom then proceeds to negate that, and since Birdman was never summoned, it doesnt remove itself.
Special Summon Gallis via its effect, and make that the target for Birdman.

I usually get the requirements at most 8 turns and on average 5. As long as you have Searchers and high level SSable monsters then you're ok for protection.
