@above: I believe that you can run this in almost any DARK Deck

I dont even need to post here.
Penguin quoted the fact I said this card is Registeel, and Vasto used my same Deaboromon-movie-reference-joke.

Gotta' love YCM

When I saw this, I was like;
"Ban. Or limit. Or Ultra convert in US..."

The ancient "it's okay to have broken cards as long as they're really expensive" argument resurrected once more. Except Super Bugman. Is. Not. Broken. At All. K?

Then I think it's a matter of translation confusion. Wiki's translation says it's a Semi-Nomi, and considering its stats and Summoning Condition, I'm inclined to believe it.

The wiki changed to this translation.

Did it? Within the last 5-10 minutes, really?

This is Machine Imperial God Dragon Asterisk all over again. "It's a Semi-Nomi", "No wait, it's just got a Rare Metal restriction with an alternate Special Summon method", "Nope, it's a Semi-Nomi again", "Nope, now it's definitely not a Semi-Nomi."

On that note, what IS Asterisk classified as now?

Edit: Just looked at Wiki RIGHT now. It's still a Semi-Nomi.

The wiki has the exact effect in the OP. It hasn't been edited in the last 5 hours.

Asterisk is the same as this card in terms of not being a semi-nomi.

This game suddenly stopped making sense.

So after years of Konami screwing every half-decent card by making it a FULL Nomi, suddenly they're releasing cards that have weird, specific Summoning Conditions, but are NOT Semi- or Full Nomis?

So neither Bugman nor Asterisk are Semi-Nomis despite that would make a lot of sense; instead they're No-Normal Summon monsters with optional Special Summon conditions from the hand? And they both happen to be DARKs with 0 ATK, begging Mystic Tomato to break them both. There's a reason Super Bugman Special Summons itself in Defense Position. Mystic Tomato would totally mess with that by bringing out a 3000 monster from the deck.

I'm having a hard time believing that. There's got to be some sort of translation issue. Most cards never follow this sort of bizarre trend.

ITT: Rare Metal Dragon is literally unplayable because its a nomi that doesn't specify how to summon it, thus, un-summonable.
The difference here is that Rare Metal doesn't have a Summoning Condition at all, it just can't be NS or Set. Asterisk and Bugman do have a condition, and that's why I have trouble believing they're not Semi-Nomis. Most monsters that aren't Nomis but have SS conditons (REDMD) don't state they can't be Normal Summoned or Set.

It wouldn't be complete trash as a Semi-Nomi (but would as a Nomi). It seems like the type of card that would make no sense the way you're saying it's translated, and if it's not a semi-Nomi, it completely ruins the purpose the Bugman cards. Whether or not that's a bad thing remains to be seen. My argument is I think the translation is mistaken, not that I -want- it to be mistaken.

If it's not a Semi-Nomi, Mystic Tomato will probably be seen on an upcoming banlist, because then it can fetch Asterisk and an effective 3000 beater that battles with the opponent's DEF stat.
